After some spirited driving today in my new toy, i noticed that on tick over the revs would rise to 1200rpm and hold for a bit then drop back down again. It did this about 5 times then steadied out again. Also it seems to tick over to low at times to almost stalling point.

Am i right in thinking this is probably the throttle position sensor that is knackered?

Cheers,
Stu

Possibly TPS but I'd check the obvious things first. Has the throttle cable frayed, is the throttle body gunged up? Are their any air leaks on the pipe work?

This used to happen on my Mk2 Golf GTI if the mixture was fractionally out.
