Ive been a bit busy lately refurbing the brakes , brake pipes , fuel lines and anything else i could see that looked like it needed attention, unfortunatley the job has taken a lot longer than first anticipated and cost alot more money, here are some pics of what i have done. The car is all back together now ready for the MOT on Friday

Like that. Tidy work. You won't regret the hoses. Massive improvement for less than the standard rubber ones. :)

Nice work! Quite scary how quickly these little jobs go over budget, isn't it...

Thanks for your views, the paint was proper caliper paint from speeding.co.uk, but it was a pain because it never really went off hard, i bought the same stuff when i did the front and it came in 2 tins , a paint and a hardener, once you mixed it you had 4 hrs to use it then thats it. This time it was just in one tin, it probably needed baking, but i couldn't bring myself to put them in the oven. :?

You could always brake hard from 160 to zero mph, that should warm them up a bit

Looks fantastic 8)

I used Smooth Hammerite on the TR7 & it lasted OK. It's NOT resistant to brake fluid unfortunately. Never tried proper calliper paint & from what you say their is no gain.

i'd agree with you on this last lot i bought, but the first lot was good. You definately get a deeper shine from the proper caliper paint, the stuff i used on the front calipers went off very hard and gave a lovely deep red shine, although that was 2 years ago now, but when cleaned they still look good.

Tip

Apply Smoothrite (Hammerite) with a brush and then use a spray can of the same to get rid of the brush strokes before it sets.

The brush on is cheaper to buy, goes on thicker and the spray can lasts ages as you dont need much.

I`ll guarantee it looks like powder coating if done carefully.

I`ve done many calipers over many years and it lasts as good as caliper paint in my opinion.

Good tip , thanks

funny you should say that , but that is excactly what i did on some of the brackets and the fuel pump shield , but in black, i was not entirely happy with the brushed on coating so flashed over it with a tin of black smoothrite , it gave a much better total covering.
