Well it was a slow start today, I got the car in the air and worked out I can get it a good few inches higher. I removed the rear section of the exhaust and got side tracked cleaning off paint over spray and under shield along with the rear anti roll bar (also found one of my rose jointed rear droplinks had sized)

Tomorrow the gearbox will come out

Low rise trolley jack, bottle jacks and axle stands. I didn't want to leave it on the axle stands whilst I'm not working on it because I don't want them to sink into the ground.

Changed the oil for Valvoline VR1 20/50 (good zddp levels) ......improved the oil pressure readings (hot idle and under load) by about 0.3-0.4 up on the readings with the previous oil so I'll probably stick with 20/50 weight oil, particularly as there are 150k miles on the clock.

Got the inlet manifiol back on after changing the vac lines and speed sensor. Whatever was causing the part throttle misfire has gone. Flushed the cooling system and filled with premix. Just need to bleed the brakes and and I can have a rest, cool beer most welcome.

Collected the parts from my nearest OPC. Somewhat peeved to find that not everything had been delivered and they could not tell me when it might be in.
Still, got a busy day tomorrow ahead of the trip to Beaulieu :)

Replaced the drivers side fron indicator as old one rusted away. PITA to get it connected and gave up trying to get it in with the hoses on!! Clean the cab top, waiting for it to dry now before painting on Fabsil

If you would rather not kill yourself with a ton and a half of porsche dropping on your head, put the ramps the opposite way round on each axle, that picture scares the crap out of me

I'd at least stick thick lumps of wood through the ramps in front of all the wheels.

Replaced the seal on the fuel filler cap, changed the near side rear light unit and replaced a couple of dud lamps too.
Sorted out the poor earth on the indicator circuit, crimped a new connector onto the wires for the courtesy light and refitted it. Bloody thing still won't work

What you cant see in the picture is that the rear ramps have a ridge on the top plate to prevent the car rolling off and they are considerably wider ramps on the rear.

The front ramps are that way round for ease of access from the side of the car.

I have to admit a few years ago I often used to do the same thing, now it's a risk I wouldn't take.

Fitted exchange steering rack - sadly only to find that a couple of the copper crush washers I ordered from OPC were the wrong size.

Looking at PET, there are multiple part numbers for the same item in the drawing and I've got the wrong ones :(
