Looking good there Scott! That balancing act reminds me of doing the same with the 968 'box last year - trolley jacks, bottle jacks, axle stands....

I brought the 968 to work today - she certainly stands out against today's bland Euro-boxes :D

Car finally back from paint shop. Absolutely stunning paint job. Will try get some pics at some point. Some minor fettling required after 3 and a half months off the road. MOT ran out Monday so she's away in today. Hopefully should pass no problem. Also had value re-assessed for insurance. Classicline really are great to deal with!

Replaced my 10 year old battery in my key fob. I can now open the car from 50 yards instead of 15 inches. That's a monumentally well spent 2 quid!!

Edit to add car has passed MOT with flying colours! Always good news!!

Stuart

Today I found out that the rubber band repair carried out by the previous owner, 4 years plus ago, to the drivers side wiper arm ball joint had a finite life. The driver's side wiper just parked itself, while the passenger side wiped merrily away!

Repaired with a couple of hair bobbles supplied by my daughter and now researching a proper repair! Appears to be a common method of repair after a quick search of this board...

There is a repair involving a metal clip, like a strong hair grip been there for about 5 yrs just gets the occasional dab of grease. Rubber band lasted 5 mins

Drove it properly for the first time since I bought it and brought it home :bounce:
Gave it a wash and put it back in the garage.
Need to investigate temperamental windscreen wipers- switch is suspect no.1 and order a new LED compatible turn signal relay. Despite ordering LED Lamps with inbuilt resistors, the flashing rate went ballistic :(
Want to fit the LED upgrade side & foglights lamps too but the screws/nuts appear to be seized and generous amounts of plus gas have failed to yield any result as yet.
Considering an LED Headlight upgrade but really need to purchase the adapter sleeves so I can get my Bilstein B6's fitted. :(

Strange flickering from o/s headlight on close examination was half full of water! Dismantled, dried and rubber boot resealed I'm using the 928 leds that Woodypeck supplies and the water had wicked down the metal heat sinks.

Yeah it's very common for Rims to leak when the paint ships off, and corrosion set in..

Those wheels look a little Dry and orange peeley, was it a bodyshop job using Wet paint?

Some (Industrial) Powdercoaters also produce poor orange peel finishes but it's thicker than wet paint ans usually lasts longer

Busy with more Mods for project 924srr27L:

I Modified a pair of Stub Axles on the 924, which have extensions to lower the pick up points for the wishbone
and steering arm / rod. Modified aluminium wishbones are being made with a Male Rod end to connect to the stubs.

Image

The new points are approx 35-40mm lower which will compensate for the lowered ride height and return the Roll centre
Geometry and wishbone angle to stock which will assist the handling and Roll.

Image

New Intrax Suspension to also be fitted at the same time, also new front discs & bespoke floating bolts and
painted hubs / new wheel bearings etc..

Image

Image

I'm doing a fair bit of Testing at the moment experimenting with different Wheel Widths & Tyres widths,

I ran a set of (All 4) 8x16 and 215/50/16 R888's for a month but then when I changed to all four
6x16J and narrow 195/55/16 tyres.. the car was so much faster in acceleration due to the 18kg per set lighter weight.
And the cornering not that much different.

They are powder coated by a local wheel refurb shop. They have a very slightly orange peel effect, but you cant really tell in natural light - just when you have a point source as in the photo.

Replaced the armrest box/hinge thingy after the old one snapped. Much better and less wobbly now. I could really do with sorting the vinyl though, thinking of getting the Only944 replacement. Anyone know if they are any good?
