One of my fav bikes around that time was the GPZ550, not a huge engine or massively fast, but handled so well, the H2 was a different story altogether

A few years later I had a 84 GPZ 900. Seriously fast in it's day, and had the chassis to back it up.

Progress has been seriously hampered in recent weeks as anything coming by Royal Mail has bee significantly delayed. However, yesterday a bumper delivery of around 16 packages materialised - not all mine I hasten to add, meant that some progress could at last be made. So today, the rigid coolant pipe, fresh from being painted and the associated new silicon coolant hoses could finally be fitted as the missing hose clamps had finally arrived.
The dipstick tube was also bolted back into place and the brake master cylinder was removed and given a thorough clean. The brake booster/ servo is next on the list for attention but the passenger seat is going to have to come out tomorrow to give me better access to the retaining bolts and Clevis pin so I can get it out.
I also started prepping another set of struts for a B6 conversion, cutting them to length cleaning them up with the wire wheel and applying some hydrate 80. I’ll carry on with those tomorrow once I’ve got the seat out and am fed up of working upside down

Ran a second set of injectors through the machine. Doing some before and after comparisons.
The main improvement was, unsurpisingly, pulling the filters, about 5%. Ultrasonoc cleaning and back flushing gave small improvements about 1% each.
Running with the pintel caps gave a broader spray pattern than without.
The first set all match and will go back in the car, they are the originals from when I got the car.
The second set I got cheap and had them professionally cleaned. I ran them for a year or so but the engine had an occasional stutter on part throttle. One injector gave 10% less than the average of the other 3, it's improved but still about 3% behind and it leaks.
So if you've had the same injectors from new and never been out I would recommend changeing the small basket filters at least. Sevice kits are fairly cheap.
It's an easy diy but be carful not to catch the pintels and usual inflammable precautions.

Unsurprisingly, today did not go to plan :(
I did get the struts all rubbed down and a decent coating of weld through zinc primer applied to both. I did get the passenger seat unbolted and managed, with help from a rather more flexible house elf, to get the brake booster unbolted too. However it was at that point that defeat was snatched from the jaws of victory as no matter what I did, I could not get the damn thing out of the engine bay
Rather unhelpfully google searches have turned up references to making up some kind of tool and clamping the piston in place which is not mentioned at all in the Pelican how to guide  The other helpful snippet is that doing this job when the engine is out appears to be the other favoured modus operandi
I think I may end up having to remove the inlet manifold to give me sufficient space to remove the booster, which is something I really was hoping not to have to do :(

Indeed I can they are next on the list. Different flow rates and high resistance types like late S2s and 968s.
New 993 injectors are in the region of £250 each and mine have done 174,000 miles so nothing to loose. Although the 993 runs really well, I have an AFR gauge fitted and it runs slightly lean on idle and part throttle. Not dangerously lean but not optimum and conversly consumption is a bit high (odd I know). I converted the inlet to a Vram manifold and changed the ecu but haven;t got round to getting it to Wayne Schofield for fine tuning. The Non-Vram and Vram use the same injectors but the Vram has slighly larger valves. I'm not interested in ulimate bhp figures but love the big boost to mid-range torque, with a LWF and 300 lbs less weight the acceleration is pretty good.
I'm not a big fan of rolling roads having had an MGA Twin-Cam break it's crank on one just before a race at Zandvoort, had to take my spare car. Those were the days that car was ex-1958 competition car and cost me £45 it was for sale in Germany a while ago for 30,000 Euro.
Dropped the gearbox on the 944 not a lot of room to maneuver and a dirty job. The trickiest bit was the selector rod guide tube. manual says use a long screwdiver but I could work out how. It seperated as the box dropped anyway now I can see how to do it.
The only part of the box that need replacement was the speedometer drive gear, the lugs on it were pretty worn. All oil seals were replaced, hub seals cheap, selector rod and driveshaft seals bloody expensive.

I would have a search around, for the 993 injectors, they are made by Bosch and they have a Bosch number then I would think you could find those for less

The 968 injectors are £468 each from Porsche but you can use Volvo V50 ones for about 80 quid a set of 4
