With much needed help from my son, thanks James, the repaired front passenger seat was refitted into the car.
We also sorted out the rear passenger side seat belt and refitted the seat belt bolt cover that I found under the front passenger seat when it was removed.
I also re-installed a screw into the glove box interior cover that I somehow missed when I replaced the broken hinges.
I also reset the trip switch! Again, thanks to my son for finding out how to do it

Took my S2 on a trip to the Nurburgring over the weekend of the 12th to 15th of May. Car was great, averaged 31mpg for the whole trip there and back. The first lap on the Friday was wet and I managed to spin...the nankangs arent great in the wet (that's my excuse). The second lap was mixed with damp patches in quite a few places but managed a 10:10 on my 2nd ever lap.

On the Saturday, the track was dry which was great, so I did 2 further laps. These resulted in a 9:37 and then a 9:06. I didnt check the lap times from the Gopro until later in the evening so was very impressed. I have the ferodo DS2500s pads in and they were great, much better than the Mintex 1144s I had in before. They generate loads of brake dust though !

On Sunday I stiffened the car up a bit more as the front was scraping through the Karussell, this helped quite a bit. I managed to improve my lines in a few more places but there was traffic as well so ended with a 9:16 but with what felt like a much smoother lap. My partner was in the car with me for 4 of the laps and really enjoyed...soo much so that we will be going back there next year.

What I do need now are helper springs on the rear Gaz coilovers as I get alot of creaking and when the suspension unloaded on lap 2 it knocked the spring out of position, so these are now on back order with Gaz.

Was very pleased with the car, I didn't manage to get the car flat out though, the autobahns were too busy and I only managed to get on the unrestricted ones on the way there, coming home I passed by Spa instead. But managed to show about 148mph on the speedo, which showed as 143mph on the GPS, it was still going ( had over 150 indicated in the past) but cars pop up rather quick at that speed. Not bad for 190k miles though.

Very nice, the ring is a fun place if you don't crash :)

I started Saturday but didn't finish and Sunday took a break...but today I finished replacing the gearbox on my 931.
Bought a G31 blind from the internets and had it delivered.
To my surprise it shifts great into all the gears...better than my old gearbox which wasn't bad either.
I also replaced the linkage bushings with polyurethane new ones.
Strangely it had polyurethane bushings on but one of them was cracked if you can believe it...I didn't expect poly bushings to fail.

I also replaced the AC relay and now I have a very powerful fan active.
Will go to fill the system with refrigerant in the next couple of days.

Bit the bullet and started underbonnet refresh of vac lines, the one from before the throttle body to the oil filler was very soggy also, crazy expensive. Changeing the speed sensor whilst in there and the oil air seperator rubbers. The servo looks horrible after years of brake fluid contamination but decided to paint in situ cos i couldn't get it off.An injector lead fell off so probable cause of occasional misfire. Removing the inlet manifold was pretty easy so all those while your in there jobs.

Lovely evening so went out for a drive to the local seafront just for the fun of it. the local "yoof" in their Imprezas and the like weren't impressed but I enjoyed the drive there and back. :D

The sun roof is "fully open" in these pictures , but it looks barely above the roof, is this right??

It all works and lifts out Ok, but I had thought it would tilt up a bit more, but perhaps it's as its supposed to be ?

It should open much further than that.

Thanks Jim, it looks as though mine doesn't open /lift up as far as it should  Not sure what the issue might be?

I'll put it on the "when I get around to it" list, but as it's working OK (opening/shutting and you can take it out ) I may leave that for a while as I'm not too sure what the issue is, or if I want to risk messing something up trying to fix it.

Cheers for you help

Really? That's as far as mine goes. At least it doesn't look much different.

It only opens slightly, barely above the roof line, and looks a lot less than the height of the red 944 in Jim's picture above. e.g. this is mine at "max" open

Treated all the rubber seals, (doors, rear hatch, sun roof and headlight rubbers) to a soaking with glycerine.

The seals sucked it up like students drinking on a cheap booze night during fresher's week, so this treating them with glycerine will be something I'll do a couple of times a year. Really improved the feel/flexibility of the seals, especially the sun roof seal.

Started the dismantle of the ARB on the 944 Cab yesterday and whilst that was out of the way I replaced the voltage regulator on the alternator in the vain hope it will help restore my volts :)

Image

The 6 bolts holding the ARB in came away OK after a nice soak in WD and the bushes are well and truly shot to bits, on one side at least....

Image

Image

I may slightly cynical but one side looks like it has been changed before as it is in markedly better condition than the other... there's no way that'll clean up and take a new bush in it!! Have put in parts request to Adam at Bolton OPC..... :D

Image

Image

The flexible air pipe that cols he alternator has certainly seen better days and was only connected at one end - perhaps my loss of volts is an overheating alternator?

Image

Took her for a quick run and it seemed to have done the trick charging at 13v to 13.3v but it soon dropped to 12.6v to 12.8v with lights and other things switched on. I'll go and see if there's anything left in the battery today and see what to do from here.

Those look really cool !
I plan on making a pair like those as well...I was not thinking of incorporating the hydraulic bits just static ramps to get up on though.
One question though, what stops the support plate from rotating if you don't get the wheels spot on the middle?
