So Sunday morning rides to the Epping Forest tea hut might be happening :) assuming of course that the hut opens up again........

it is open now, full of twats and cops moving you on

so my stable has grown again, the CB900 fell out of bed, so i now have a black 1980 CB750F-A, been in a shed since 2004, can see me being busy for a while,

I did have a look at a Suzuki GS1000EN, at 7k you can keep it, I used to build them out the crates from Japan

There are a few alternatives to the 993 injectors. A guy in Spain is selling sets flow matched, a lot cheaper and a more modern 4 hole design not sure but I think they are also used on Volvos.
Gearbox back in surprisingly easy, a few bits to finish, it'll be easier next time now I know which order to do things.

Injectors for the 2.7 are £272 each, if you can find them. There was some alterations to the 2.7 half way through the production year, so there are 2 types of injector, unique to the 2.7.

Glad mine are working fine.

Quick blast with new gearbox, diff whine gone and no more crunching in second. May have buggered up one injector as I was getting a rich misfire occasionally on wot. Ah well back to the drawing board.

Pulled the injectors to try out my new cleaner/tester. One is down 10% I have a spare set which all ran equal so new rubbers etc and they'll be going in. Gearbox is back just waiting for an oil seal and speedo gear. Cups are back and looking good.

Can you tell me more about the gearbox?

What did you have done, who did it and what sort of money :D

The gearbox is the only part on my car not rebuilt -thanks in advance

I picked up a pinion bearings for my own gearbox rebuild on Friday , it came in it’s own little presentation box which isn’t surprising as it cost £315 !!
What’s annoying is it’s made by FAG with the part code but is only available from Porsche .

The gearbox was used from DV out of a '91 car. I partially stripped it to check crown wheel and pinion, and the magnet all looked in good nick. I bought new oil seals, gasket and the Wavetrac diff.
Preston Transmissions did the rebuild no bearings or syncro rings were needed, they charged £200 cash. They noticed the speedo gear was worn so I replaced that and put the oil seal in.
My old box had the usual wine and 2nd gear was difficult to engage. New box is fine nice and quiet, can't say I've noticed the diff as yet.
I heard the pinion bearing was expensive but there is a cheaper alternative that needs modding to fit. Paul Livesy recommended the gearbox people and I'm well satisfied. They are familiar with the 944 box and the alternative bearing. I used Swepco previosly but Wavetrac recommend Motul, can't say it feels any lighter on the changes from cold but it's not been that cold recently.
When I used Mobil it took ages for the gearchange to ease off when cold, the Swepco was much better and reduced the whine.
Track days started again so it'll get tested soon.

I use Motul. Seems a little better than the Mobil.

Any pics of your 993 Endoman ? :)

One thing i've started to notice on the Wavetrac is a kind of stuttering on slow left handers, road junctions. I thought it was an injector fault but that's cleared.
The 993 is a weekend/summer car the 944 daily workhorse love them both.

Wouldn’t it have been worth the insurance to change the bearings as you were that far in with the diff removed ?

It would have been pretty expensive and as everything else looked good, the gearbox builders confirmed it, so I left them. If it had been my whiney old box, then yes.

Not exactly work done on my car, but it is 944/968 related.
Today, I disassembled another pair of late struts ready for B6 conversion. Tried a different set of tools for disassembly and it worked a treat. Still a two person job though and takes a while.
