Old age in both cases, spelling and pee

Got written off in Woodford by a kid who nicked his mums polo for a joy ride, hit it in the drivers side and bent the whole front end towards the near side by about 8 inches

Years ago I had a modified 3.0S, and a mate bought a mk1 Capri with a yank V8 in it. Before I had a chance to check it out, a traffic car ran him off the road on his bike, and killed him.

Dreaded abs light on. Following Waylander's execellent guide still can't locate fault. I can hear relays trip on pump but no wirring of motor. Light goes off at start then comes on when in motion.
All wheel sensors read around 0.98 kohm giving out from 0.189 to 0.36 volts.

What year was the Capri?

no wirring pump, try the ABS relay, unplug it give it a tap or two, spray the pins and socket with contact cleaner, and refit a few times,

did you check the sensors from the ECU end or the wheels?

Checked resistances at ecu plug, voltages at sensors. abs relay works and I can hear the pump relays clicking in the wheel arch. Donor Merc pump arrived today and the motor is dead but I have a working spare, the pistons though are good. So I'm going to pull the pump and check that motor. I ran the engine at tick over with the rear wheels spinning on my lift to get their output and one is considerably lower. The fronts were easier to spin by hand.

Sounds like your well sorted,

Glad my little abs thingy helps sort things out, it’s by no means a fix all but it helps

Changeing both rear sensors. One done, took all day and they are expensive. Next job abs unit. Looks like I've found a Bosch diagnostic tool a bit late but it may come in handy.

Started stripping down another pair of s2 front shock assemblies ready for Bilstein B6 conversion.
These will be for sale on an exchange basis once completed.

The abs sensors can be replaced with some 996 ones which are less than half the 944 price, just need the lead extending slightly

I will see if I can find the part numbers

I can now confirm they are a perfect match/fit; Bosch part number 0 265 006 344.

I believe these were £32 each just needed the lead extended by 75mm

It was over 30 years ago, I had 3 mk3 3.0's and a couple of 2.8 Capri's, the v8 was a brown/gold mk1 or mk2.

ABS light still on and the Bosch ABS 2-LED tester KDAS 0003 arrived today. So when I've worked out the manual I'll plug it in. Seems like an English version of the Chinese translation from German.
