The race ported GT550 I had with triple Allspeeds was like a Kwack H1. It also had an appetite for piston rings so had to go. Originally I'd gone to the shop to buy an RD400, but the black Suzuki with black Allspeeds and an electric start appealed to me more at 18.

I worked for Eddie Grimstead Motorcycles for a while in 1979-80 and had the use of an H2 now and then, I don't think i have ridden a more scary motorcycle ever,

one of my favs was the Honda CBX SuperSport 6-1 sounded tottaly mental and it was fast too

I had 2 red CBX's in the 80's, standard pipes, a 6-1 and 6-2 straight through. Best sounding bikes ever. Had an 84 GPZ 900 next, would have murdered the CBX's TBH.

I'm glad I never rode motor bikes because the kick and performance can rarely be matched on four wheels.

Call me a hypocrite, but I wouldn't want my nearest and dearest riding a bike. Even though ABS, traction control, anti wheelie etc makes them easier to ride today.

But lets be honest: so many bike riders are absolute nutters.
I live near the main roads where all the bikers use to get to the TT or the Northwest 200. During these times, I avoid the main A75. I see crazy manoeuvres and then add the fact that drivers are so unaware of their actions, I don't blame you.

Bikes are so vulnerable.

Sold my last litre sports bike nearly a year ago, figured after over 40 years of er enthusiastic riding, I'd had my go. Getting the itch for a slower classic Ducati now though.

Looks nice, and probably sounds nice too. I fancy an 1198S, nearly bought one of the last brand new 1198's, but choked on the £16k asking price.

and how much is a Panagale, £32K

My last Bike was a Triumph 900 Sprint, and a man driving a van full of second hand TV's turned right without looking, I still have two screws in my right knee,

that was in 1998,

I now want a replacement RD400..................................................

A new bells and whistles S1000RR is around £18k, £7k more than a new one cost me in 2013. Before that I gave £8k for a new GSX-R1000 in 2006. New bikes don't make financial sense to me now. Old 2 strokes make even less sense.

I guess it’s the same reason folk hanker after fast fords, and pay stupid money for them

Trips down memory lane and all that,

If I was looking for a bike today I would have no idea what I would buy, I liked thunder cats and thunder aces but not many of those left now

Been there, done that 30 years ago. Spoke to someone recently I hadn't seen for years, the custom wiring loom for his current Escort project cost as much as I used to give for mk2 RS Escorts.
