Bought a set of lightweight hydraulic tappets for my S2 from 928Motorsports. Doing up a spare cylinder head.

$274 plus shipping came very quickly. Basically anything that lowers weight of valves, springs. top hat, collets and followers increases rev limit by increasing point of valve bounce. Lindsey do titanium caps and collets with barrel springs at a price. They seemed good vfm when looking at a set of new std ones. My head came without followers. Made by INA (OEM).
For normal use no discernable improvement, but when you see used ones going for £25 it's a no brainer.

They will be lhd don't forget and others are available. Looked into it a while ago and early 944s will work S2s more difficult. This is what I did:- https://rennlist.com/forums/924-931-944 ... r-mod.html
works great but not easy.

The 968 headlight units are cast at an angle, if you try to put normal units in there you will be providing landing lights for your local airfield

Playing with a spare S2 head. A little porting, just removing casting flaws before taking impressions of the ports. I'll continue when I've got the moulds, not intending major surgery just smoothing and blending with a 120 grit finish on the inlets and finer on the exhaust. Then it will be off to the Headshop in Warrington for skim, reface valves and recut seats where necc. Guides are all within tolerance but I may have K-liners put in the exhaust guides. I'll get them to check the springs as well. As expected from Porsche there's little you can do or need to do. it looks a lot better than several manufacturers' heads. I'll be pulling the motor this summer to replace front and rear crank seals, new clutch and anything else I find.
"I'll move in a minute love it needs a bit of warmth for the impression to set." "I'll make you warm if you don't shift it!" was the reply.

"Why don't you have a lovely weekend with your girlfriends - you know; a couple of days at a spa. After all, you deserve it."

Then you can have a run of the house. Amazing how clean things come up in the dish washer.
