4 wheel alignment

Following on from the great article in this month's AT, I have a 4 wheel alignment looming and have just got around to loosening all the nuts/bolts on my rear suspension. No real problems but if you want to do it in your garage, you will probably need an extension bar and some heat!! Anyway, some advice, please - I think that I know the answer to this however the PET isn't that clear... Should there be a bolt in the hole that I'm pointing to in the photo???

Ah, thanks Jim,that's useful... thought so! Right, so I'm missing the 'Camber Adjust' (on both sides!!) From the PET, it looks like the missing bolt is a simple M12, but that wouldn't be any good for adjustment!? Or would it? Anyone care to give me a 2nd opinion??

Its a bolt with an off set spigot, as you turn the bolt it moves the arm

I seem to remember from the 968 forum that the bolt is only used when adustments are being made. After that it is removed.

Over on the 968 forum, the opinion is that the bolt will not be there (haven't been out to check on mine, so I cannot say if it is there or not). Apparently, the eccentric bolt is the tool used to make adjustments and is available from the OPC for around £20.

Simon, an extract from the manual ties in with your point on the tool. However, I am interested to know how many people have something fitted in those holes... and whether they have a bolt or the tool (1 each side!?). The car in the AT article definitely has occupied holes...

I have rechecked the article in AT.

There is a small miss print attached to the two photographs

The car shown with the 6 bolts painted is a 1985 3.2 and is personal property of Chris Franklin at Center Gravity

I took the photos

The mystery deepens

If I have an opportunity to do so I will try and clarify next week

Took this photo of my 1982 944 a couple of weeks ago. There is no bolt in the hole in question.

There's no bolt in mine, i've spent every waking hour the last 2 months under the rear of mine doing some major refurb work, i know every inch of it from memory ...............

i have forgotten what the wife and kids look like though ...

What major stuff have you been up to under the back end?? Also, the Promax level 2 kit is a Lindsey DPW with chips, isn't it?? What boost are you running to get 350bhp? Dyno'd?
