I need some new 'uns, standard 19mm.

Is it worth trying the OPC for some OEM parts, or should I just try the usual suspects i.e Bert/Porscheshop, Halfrauds etc ?

Cheers

Be very wary of the cheaper ones as they fail & seize on. This was on mine with copper slip applied everytime they're R & R'd & also scrupulously torqued up.
I ended up hammering on an old socket to get my failed one off. Personally I don't have locking wheel nuts at the mo on the basis of who will nick old D90's!

My wheel nuts are a bit shabby. Was thinking of ditching the locks & just putting some new Chromed ones on. Or maybe I should just paint them :?:

There was one very strange thing I found with the locking wheel-nuts that were fitted to my car, as they were clearly quite a lot heavier than the normal mag wheel-nuts, they actually introduced a small amount of steering wobble (not unlike missing weights) but pronounced at certain speeds. I did 2 wheel balancing sessions and no real difference until I changed the locking nuts for plain bolts as one locking nut broke while being removed - the problem just went away.

Lightly annoying when everyone and their dog was blaming play in the steering rack / steering column joint etc etc..but something that might be of use when considering a purchase.

You should always position the locking wheel nut OPPOSITE the valve

But the valve will have been included as part of the balance requirement when the wheel/tyre was balanced, however the locking nut is extra. I never had a problem with balance with the steel locking one I had.

The added `lump` of valve at the extent of the wheel tends to exaggerate a harmonic imbalance induced by a heavier locking wheel nut albeit inboard. Remember also that the wheel is balanced off the car without the added inboard locking nut weight.
