yes i have rebuilt about 5 gearlinkages with this part, but you need a few more bits, like the rubber seals to keep the junk out and a new clip and washers

Sealing ring 4 of @ 477 711 149 @ £2.45 each
Circlip N 012 415 1 @ £0.86
Washer 477 711 139 A @ £4.12
Lock Nut 900 910 003 04 @ £1.10

and quite probably a new dust bellows 477 711 159 B @ £9.65

so about £50 for all the bits, plus you will need a puller to get the arm off the gearbox

the prices are right as i have the same price list as east london Porsche

Since I’ve had the S2 the heater has been odd, doesn’t blow cold and the footwell / window blower wouldn’t work.

Then I realised there were no numbers on the thermostat knob and I realised it want an S2 control panel installed !

Took a punt on an £80 used heater control panel from eBay, installed it this evening and hey presto, everything working as it should :)

- New bonnet bags gasket
- New dizzy cap
- New rotor arm
- Greased the annoyingly squeaky clutch pedal
- Greased the door hinges

No actual work on the car per se but collected the replacement bolts & washers so that I can fit parts tomorrow.
Had to devote some attention to the commuting motorcycle which had presented me with another puncture when I left work last night. It was either a two hour wait for the RAC or limp home, popping into every garage that I would normally pass. Even though it was 2 hours to get home, still earlier than waiting for the patrolman to show up.
I now have a nice new tyre but a £150+ dent in the pot for Enfield Pageant at the end of the month

The planned for replacement of the rear control arm bushings didn’t happen. Instead the knitted wire wheel was brought out to play on the shock absorber bodies and the spring top caps. Having picked up both cup & wheel versions, I thought I had my bases covered. Starting with the cup wheel, the first hurdle was to get the thing on the Angle grinder. Now you’d think this would be a simple thing to do wouldn’t you? Oh no! Turns out I have one of those grinders with the semi enclosed guards that has to come off to work with a 65mm dia cup wheel. A few mins later, the guard is off, the spring plate & retaining screws are back on and were in business. Only we’re not. You see the cup wheel is not a precision made item and it’s so far of balance that the grinder is vibrating like a jack hammer & making a bid for freedom as soon as it is switched on! Turning down the varispeed control eventually leads to a setting I can work with but also means if too much pressure is applied, I can stop rotation.
The spring top hats are duly given a thorough going over and start to look okay ish apart from the severe acne scarring like finish from the sand blasters.
The shock struts are next & short work is made of the offside strut. As I start on the near side, I hear a faint metallic clinking, a bit like a triangle being struck whilst holding on to it. I stop the grinder & check it out. Remember the spring plate & screws that hold the guard on? Yep, you guessed it, they have vibrated loose due to the out of whack wire wheel and two have been sling shot into geostationary orbit (or might has well have been for all the chance that I have if finding them!) and the last one is holding on- just!
With the one remaining screw safely removed, the job recommences without further incident.
Several coats of red oxide are applied to both the spring caps and the shock bodies & suprisingly enough, takes place without any dramas whatsoever :o

Maybe tomorrow I’ll get the bushes on...............
