What parts are you after - I've been toying around with getting mine up and running on the Turbo and found most parts available in the UK?

Full system really, I've located an evaporator and I can get most stuff new but I'd rather recycle i.e. not pay full price. Some stuff I will get new like the drier and perhaps condenser. but pipes, support brackets, tensioner, controller, compressor I've only found used on US ebay. It's a long term project and I'm not sure what I'll need and where everything fits. Evidently the altenator shroud is different. I could do with seeing a car with it on and take some pics but that's no go atmo.

CP4L and ECP have the compressor -

CP4L - £370.09 + £128.59 surcharge for the core

I've seen a couple of used compressors come up now and again on ebay - might be worth giving Steve a call at Douglas Valley as they often have cars in for breaking but don't list everything on the web. Might be able to supply you with the pipes and compressor / alternator bracket as well.

Checked my compressor the other night and the clutch is free so I'm hoping that when I resurrect mine the compressor still works :bounce:

Design911 have good offer on the condensor and the evaporator.

I too am planning in getting the Aircon working again on my 1986 944. So over last few days spent some time testing the system and think/hope all I need is a compressor seal repair kit from Griffiths in US (will be ordering that at the weekend) and a new condenser. Tho not having much luck finding a new one I trust will fit.

Occasionally, you just have to be careful and not go on ebay when pissed. They are only 10 mins away from me and I've dealt with them a lot I think they work on the principal beggars can't be choosers. I have had some really good bits at fair prices including an engine and gearbox, but some bits are just silly.

There's a breaker in Bedfordshire that lists some stuff that's worn out scrap. Who buys that junk?

 Yes some of the scrap listed on ebay is criminal plus the price being asked

I understand some of the Douglas Valley stuff is ridiculously priced and is always worth checking the price against new items from Porsche.

I managed to get a good used fuel tank cover for the late 944 Turbo / S2 (with the pump inspection hatch) for considerably less than a new item from Porsche and had it powder coated, came out as good as new.

For that one I'd noticed they had an S2 being broken so asked if I could have the fuel tank cover, worth haggling with them instead of just buying off ebay, he listed the part for me and sent me the direct link so still covered by ebay protection / paypal etc if anything went wrong.

Back on topic - not quite today but Thursday evening I replaced my front brake pads, after the storm I found my passenger door was full of water whilst the front end of the car was on axle stands so surmised that the drain holes in the door were blocked. Stripped the door interior trim off and carefully lifted my new door membrane and then gave the bottom inside of the door a good scrubbing with a sponge and various brushes. I also cleaned each of the drain holes with a detailing brush until clear clean water flowed from each of them.

Then I found a slight leak in the RH tail-light which was allowing water to gather in the right rear cubby (probably needs an additional drain hole drilling after I had it patched previously). Carefully removed the tail-light and found that unlike the LH tail-light aperture there is a slight recess in the body panel so the neoprene gasket I had fitted was not making complete contact. Solved this by sticking an extra piece of the gasket material onto the area of the recess and checked after the recent heavy rain today, all fixed and no more leaks :alien: :bounce:

Heater box arrived from States all in good condition, including a few bits of dead American wild life.
Hovering over the order button for a load of stuff from Griffiths just will need main a/c lines so off to DV tomorrow to see what Steve has in.
it's going to be a major job getting this lot in. I have no compressor for an exchage unit so unless I can find some used stuff it's going to be expensive. It's all there in the US but carriage is horrific.

I don't envy you with that job - I've read horror stories on rennlist about replacing the HVAC assembly, apparently its much easier on the early dash 944.

So where are the pictures of your "free" american wildlife?

Never attempted to get the air con working on my turbo, even thought about removing the compressor and condenser. I'll keep hold of all the parts just in case though.
