Has anyone used a re manufactured AC Compressor or anything of the sort & what are your opinions?

I just bought one of those compressors and it turned up in a Lucas box. I specifically went for that one as it was supposed to be a Denso remanufactured unit, rather than the Lucas ones advertised on the same company's website.
The compressor looks perfectly fine, but two different (and reliable) sources have told me not to fit Lucas components as they are not what they used to be, so mine is going back next week.

My local A/C specialist quoted me a bit more than the price of the eBay one for a Hella re-manufactured one, so that is what I will be going with.

Good to know! Can I get in touch with your AC guy as I need one? Keep us updated when you have yours fitted.

Being overseas, I prefer to have everything in writing than over the phone.

I have just received from carpartsaver (original link) & they have confirmed the Compressor will be a Denso product.

They supplied me with a Lucas.
I emailed them and told them and asked if they could supply the Denso as per the listing. They replied, apologised for the inconvenience and said that they would collect the Lucas compressor and give me a refund. I can only assume that they don't have any Denso compressors.

Both Car Parts 4 Less and Euro Car Parts websites only list Lucas compressors and I have checked with Andrew Page who only supply Denso and they say that Denso have no stock.

I'd be interested to hear what you actually receive.

Thanks for the info.

I specifically asked;

Hello Paul,

Can you confirm the product delivered will actually be Denso, as I have a forum member that states you sent a Lucas item instead?

They replied;

carpartssaver:

Hello

I can confirm this will be a DENSO Compressor

Kind regards

Vinu

I also had emails from Paul.
Perhaps it is a Denso compressor, but re-manufactured by someone else and put in a Lucas box.

Couldn't you check the brand on the Compressor?

I should be ordering soon but waiting for the AC tech to check some other items as it's going to be an expensive AC overhaul; so far, Compressor, Condenser, Dryer, belt :cry:

It was sealed in a bag inside the box and I didn't want to open it to see what make it was.
To be honest, having been warned by two different people not to use Lucas boxed components I didn't want to have anything else to do with it.

Paul at Car Parts 5 Less didn't mention anything about the compressor being a Denso, there was no email discussion or trying to persuade me to keep it, the reply was an apology and arrangement to collect and refund. Take from that what you will.

I have also been told not to use Lucas as well.

But now confused as they specifically confirmed it being a Denso :?

On the other hand, I corresponded & will be buying through ebay, so that should mean it would be a Denso as advertised/confirmed!

I also bought through eBay. Your link took me straight to the one in MyEbay that I had purchased.
Car Parts 4 Less and ECP only list Lucas remanufactured units for our cars on their own websites, not Denso remanufactured.

When are you expecting delivery?

Haven't bought it yet as I'm still waiting for my AC tech to tell me what else I need. Also looking at some other options, sent an e-mail to Woolie as well yesterday.

Not to mention our own discussion on here :?
