Hi Mick

Welcome to the forum.

You've picked an iconic car, they are great fun and look the business a proper drivers car.

The best advice I can give anyone looking to buy their first car is to go along to the local Club meet and get to know about the cars from people who own them. The guys in your patch are a friendly bunch and they meet at the Angel at Ferndown this coming Tuesday from 7:30pm ask for Nick.

Your budget is going to dictate the quality of the car you buy, there are few genuine bargains out there and old Porsches can cost a small fortune to put right if you buy the wrong one. It's easy to let the heart rule the head, sadly I receive a few calls a week from people who have bought a money pit.

Corrosion is the biggest problem for a not well cared for impact bumper 911 and a few bubbles will generally require replacement panels, despite sellers telling you it's on the surface and a cheap fix.

You know where we are, ask as many questions as you like and keep us updated with your search. :)

As someone who's been through the process, I wholeheartedly agree with the above.

Join the club, or at the very least get yourself along to a meeting.
Budget is key, they ranged from 7k - 12k (for non-turbos) when I was looking, and even owning aPorsche before, I still took someone along to view it a second time.

Ended up buying the fourth one I saw, but I was choosy about viewing and it could so easily have been the fortieth.

Take your time, and don't buy the first one (unless it's fab).

By far the best drivers car around. Good luck in the search.

Oh, and get a red one.
