Hello,
Just joined the club having bought myself a 1994, 993 coupe, tiptronic - metallic Green. My names Mike and I live in the Worthing area (West Sussex). Looking forward to learning more from the experts and shared wisdom of the forums! Obviously its faster than my Mondeo, although I have been riding motorbikes for more than 30-years some of these e.g. my Fire Blade were pretty quick too. At present still ride a Yamaha XT660 - not the fastest thing on the road but good for my commute to work most of the time. Planning to take some serious action to improve my car driving and looking at the Advanced Drivers institute as well as some trackdays or proving track to really open her up.

Regards,
Mike

Hello Jim,
Thanks for the welcome. Thought that the smaller club might be more representative of my budget and interests - so heres hoping I was right.

Welcome to the forum.

You'll have a lot of fun in a 993.

Some members from the Bristol Region are attending this track day later in the month https://orders.motorsport-events.com/EventDetails.aspx?EventID=a47b634c-919c-47f7-acf9-16c83d1704d4

Thanks for the info on the track day - sounds very interesting and not that expensive either. Although its quite away from West Sussex I might combine it with a visit to some relatives in Devon which would be a hoot of a few days driving...

Hi Mike

Welcome and welcome to 993 ownwership

I have a 993 tippy also. Hoot to drive when set up properly however just a little agricultural when compared to the more relaxed and modern versions of the water cooled 911's (996 or 997)

I was also a member of the Institute of Advanced Motorists for over 25 years, but have now resigned from it. Best part for me was the driver training and then using it on public roads. Helps enormously in reading the road and accident prevention; something you need on bikes, especially when dealing with other less attentive motorists

If you are in the Midlands in September (9th) we also have a track day on a specialist sprint circuit £55 for the day or half day session bookable

Hello Chaps,
Thanks for the information on the forth coming track days. I took immediate action and booked myself for the day at Colerne plus an hours tution (spread over three 20-minute sessions). What a start to 993 ownership. Looking forward to meeting other members on the day and being humbled by better drivers. I am sure the drive back home will be much more interesting.

Regards,
Mike - Worthing
