Hi all,

I am just about to bite the bullet and purchase my first 911, as you can see from the pictures I may have my work cut out.

So you may find me trawling through the forums and asking questions whilst I nurse this car back on the road

Cheers

Tim

Well it's deffo guards pink! Doesn't look to bad to be honest. Keep us posted & it would be worth taking pics, I'm sure Tony would love to have a write up for All Torque.

So far I know the following bad points about the car:

It produces a nice amount of white smoke but has no loss of power
It may need a new clutch
The couple of rust patches are superficial
The colour is pink :(

So apart from running away what should I be paying before I part with my cash in the next 2 weeks? Just a ballpark?

Whom is going to do the work?

You won't cut that paint right, it's gone white.

Paint job 1/2 decent 3K
Wings new 1k
Clutch Kit .5k
Trim .5k
Wheel refurb .3k
Fighting fund 1.5k

Looking at that little lot which could be the tip of a very big iceburg, the car needs to be free.

Sean,

Those are the comments I want to hear,

I am planning to do mechanical work myself (assisted by some mechanics who accept the standard payment of beer)

I am also planning to ask my brother in law who runs a bodyshop to help me with the paint work.

The car was serviced and running prior to the white smoke.

And the grand total is £1.5k

Is that too much?

Thanks

Tim

Out of interest what is the asking price for it?

Have a good check of the sills and kidney bowls, what are the dark marks next to the sill trim?

I'd give 1500 for it, it'd break for more. I've known red cars chalked like that & they've come back with a mop & cutting paste.
The wings would repair if it is just the area below the headlight, I'd check the rest of the car for rot though. It'll need tyres by the look of it. Interesting project & although Becky would kill me I'd make room in the garage for it! It would keep by body guy busy for a while

What spec & year is it?

If you're getting mates rates for everything than £1500 isn't too bad.

Good luck with it and fingers crossed there are not too many surprises.

For £1500 looks bargain, provided kidney bowls OK These can be expensive to sort out, need to cut out door posts to get at them
Would make nice RS rep project

The paint on my roof has gone off over winter. If I cut & wax it looks good for a few weeks & comes back. You need to paint it unless it lives in a garage & doesnt go out in the rain. So many body shops are short of work I think you can knock 1K off Seans quote. Good luck with your new toy. :)
