Thought I'd join the forum - I have just started to realise that 944 ownership is very sociable (lots of acknowledgement from other 944 owners on the road!)

I bought a 1991 J reg S2 in December of last year as a way of beating the credit crunch. It has replaced a 2007 Audi TT, which even with high residuals was costing me a fortune and was a remote and unconnected drive compared to the Porsche.

I am another mad fool who has bought with idea of a daily driver. With this in mind, I bought the best I could find. It has had 2 owners from new covering only 49,000 miles from new, with the last owner keeping it for 14 years during which time it has been slavishly maintained and I am fortunate in having a fantastic and full history with a massive pile of receipts, MOT's, tax discs etc.

It is very original, doesn't seem to have had much paint (Grand Prix White by the way) with an unmarked Marine Blue interior complete with the original Blaupunkt radio cassette with highly retro graphic equalizer...

I really don't want to tempt fate by saying no problems so far, but in the last 3 months I have covered over 3,000 trouble free miles and wish I had done this years ago.

Once the weather has cleared up and I can get the damn thing clean, I will get some photos online.

Regards - Marcus

Another convert. :D Hello & welcome. Used my car today for the first time in a while thanks to the snow. Was grinning like an idiot. They make a great daily drive & seem better for regular use. Look forward to seeing the pics'.

HI & Welcome

You'll be fine with a 944 as a daily driver, quite a few of us are or have been in that position in the past.

Thanks for the warm welcome.

It would seem that I very nearly did speak too soon as I managed to put the car into a ditch on my home in the snow last night. Perfect balance is all well and good providing the road isn't sheet ice...

Anyway, £80 and one tow truck later, the car was pulled from the hedge this morning with little more than a good coating of mud! These cars really are incredibly well screwed together - I think I'll get the tracking checked to be on the safe side.

 Think you got off lucky there. Glad you & the car are ok. These cars are pretty hopeless in snow & ice. But you found that out already. When it's iffy I use the train!
