Hi - just back into Porsche ownership after a 15 year gap - Previous 911SC, Current 987.2 2.9. Just checking out the club and the forums to get a feel for the local and online "scene".

Hope to be able to learn and contribute as time goes on.

Hi

Welcome back, the Boxster is a little different to the SC. I am short hop away at Lower Stoke.

Lots going on in Kent, we are very active. You have just missed club night, a gang of us are going to Wombat Wrapping near Tonbridge on Saturday morning for a kick around.

Very different cars indeed - and different wants then vs now - I am loving the boxster - 1700 miles in 5 weeks and its making me very happy everytime I drive it.

Jumping around the forums I see a number of us in the Medway towns area, so would be good to hook up with folks and get some good contacts and be part of the social scene.

Shame I missed the this months club night and I think I am away for the next one, but, hope to come along and meet a few like minded people. Club membership price seems very reasonable - so planning on joining properly in the near future.

Probably best for a club night, but would like to know which independants folks are using (I have some "scars" from my 911 days with one in particular - but that was a long time ago).

I have talked to a couple of OPC's - must say Tonbridge seem like good people to talk to - I got some good quotes for cruise retro fit and PCM firmware and maps upgrade - not "cheap" but not obscene either, but I like their style, so would be really good to hear the shared experiences.

Quite a few of us use Tonbridge, they are decent and happy to discuss a quote :)

You are welcome to have a run up to Wombat in the morning, failing that I will be at Brands Hatch on Wednesday late afternoon/early evening for the Porsche only track day. Drive through to the paddock and free to watch. It starts at 5pm finishes at 8pm.

Welcome back to Porsche ownership in Kent. I live in Chatham, Lordswood actually.
The few indies I've tried in Kent have been very variable & I ended up using Tonbridge OPC. I have a good probably 13 year relationship with them. Cliff at Project 9 in Marden has a good rep as an indie, but I have not used him. I've also used Brooklands Kent at Swanley, they were good but quite a high labour rate, close to classic rate at an OPC.

Good to know thanks.

Did I read Cliff was previously at LaRose before he went on his own?

Can't make tomorrow but might get out to Brands Wednesday - thanks for the heads up - be interesting to watch a few Porsche's go round there - I used to marshall for bike races there, and my beer buddy used to drive the fire response vehicle for car meets. Be like going home.......

Cheers
Paul

Yes he was, he split from them quite a few years ago, probably 8 or 9.

I made it out to brands Wednesday. Interesting mix of cars out on track and the Kent Ford RS owners club guys bought an range of stuff to have a look at up by the Kentagon.

It was a nice evening, I was in the paddock in my 964. Shame we did not bump into each other.

Took a long time to follow up on this - still enjoying the Boxster - thinking of coming along to a club night - assume it's just turn up, look lost and try to find a friendly "Porsche" face in the pub ?

Yup first Friday of the Month at The Carpenters arms Hadlow. Come in the front door & go around to the right, us Porsche loonies will be on the right hand side. I hope that work doesn't get in the way, so should make it. Lots of friendly Porsche faces there.
Edited to correct typo, it's Monday not Friday.
