Hi all. Just bought my first 944 and I'm super happy. I got it very very cheap but it needs a few bits to make it nice. Paint being one, probably why it came so cheap, but also some random bits.
I've been trawling the search so some stuff I know but there will be some bits that I will ask that may have been asked a few times already so apologies.
I'm not new to forums, so I understand the "why dont you just search it you idiot..." So I'll try and be a bit clever. :-)

It's a black car originally but somebody has roller painted it blue and stuck Nyan Cat vinyl on the side. I think it was destined to be a track car.
They have removed the Power steering pump and resovoir .
The boot lock is physically missing. and the Motor isn't connected, so that's annoying.
The interior has nice electric half leather cream seats but the rear seat is FULL leather. is that normal? or could the rear seat have been swapped perhaps?

Anyway. Here is a few pics.

Welcome :)

It's certainly an interesting choice of livery! I'm sure that put many buyers off but that is your gain!

Where are you located? There will probably be a great crowd of Tipec members near you that meet up regularly where you can get some great info and advice :D

Hi I think you may be right. All the rubbers have been painted and everything. It's a bad job.

I managed to wipe some of the rubbers clean with a little panel wipe!
The wheels are only plastidip so I'm interested in what they look like under there.

I'm based in Wellingborough near Northampton. It would be fantastic to meet up and have a look round some other cars as I literally have zero idea about my car. Lol.

Hi Rabbit, welcome on board. I just showed my daughter your car with the Nyan cat and she LOVED IT

I think you'll find the leather bits front and rear are actually vinyl, and the rears normally match the fronts so one of them has been changed at some point. I'll watch out for you on the Northants roads :D

What were they thinking to put that on there. Poor car!

There's quite a few from the Peterborough area and Silverstone Classic is coming up in July.

Thanks Paul. I'm waiting on the log book before I can tax it and the mot runs out on the 29th so I want to get a full year on it.
It would be cool to see another car out there. I have so many questions. :-)
I think all the kids love it. My kids do and the kids in the street passing go "cool car mr". :-)

I thought this. But as above its popular.
Not sure the car is ready for silverstone just yet. But I would love to attend a meet in this area.

Having a tidy up on the Nyan Porsche last night.
The paint is abominable. The rubbers and everything were painted over. It's so bad. But a tiny amount of thinners and it wipes off! I'm fairly confident that they didn't even key it...

So i wiped off the paint half way round the windscreen rubber. Carefully so as not to remove any on the roof.
Removed it from one wiper arm. This needs a paint but looks way better not being blue.
And "poked " at the rear right window rubber as the paint just flakes off as its a squidgy rubber.
And with my nail i picked off the door handle paint... Porsche logo and a brilliant dark metal finish on the door handle. 8)

Yes it's not fixing the car but with all the rubbers and stuff clean it will look way better. Right now with them painted over it looks way more amateur that it should. More to do but I only had a quick go.

It's entirely possible that all the blue could come off leaving a perfect black paint job. . Right now tho it would be an epic job to try and salvage. I could try stripping it with a plastic scraper. And / or with some thinners. Or run a sander over it all. Any scratches from doing so could be buffed out with cutting compound.
But... It could be awful under there.

Right now it's painted badly but is kinda cool and you should hear the compliments I get from passers by when I'm working on it! "Love the car mate. Great paint job. Love it!" Etc.

It's received well online I think because it looks quite good from a distance in photos. (Closeup it truly is soooo bad.

Still I think it should grab some massive attention at bug jam. 8)

The lengths we go to for cars

I got this one.... :D my new acquisition :)

She's a 1982 2.0 NA with just over 100k on the clock, originally white but nicely decorated and a few performance tweaks...

That's cool. And I think I know where the car came from too. But don't think he's had it very long either. Near Abington? He was polishing it up the other saturday probably for you to collect. :D

I love this and this kind of livery is ultimately what we are looking for. But the Martini racing.
Image

Although am struggling to find someone that sells the side decals with the swoop. Can find tons of straight for the roof / bonnet, but none to swoop over the rear arch.
So it would end up looking like this if we angled a straight set..

But this would be ideal. 8)

The very same one!

Like the Martini stripes as well... I'll see if there is anything in my paperwork for who did the Rothmans livery... They may well be able to create your Martini option :)
