Well I am due to pick up my 2006 Cayman 3.4s in a weeks time. This is my first ever Porsche after dreaming of owning a 911, I just couldn't raise the funds to purchase/run it so I have gone for a
Cayman instead.

Come here from a BMW 123d. Lovely car but the yearn of a petrol flat 6 got the better of me.

I'm sure I will ask some stupid questions but I promise to at least use the search facility first so bare with me.

Hope to meet some fellow members

Hi,

Nottingham and Oxford aren't that close so which are you leaning to??

I've had a 911 and a Boxster a few years ago and have now settled with a 944 for summer use

I work in Oxfordshire but live in Newark, Nottinghamshire. I work 5 on/5 off so I treat Newark as my home.

The 944 is a lovely car. My first ever boss had a 944 turbo. They still look great today. Not too much of a convertible fan to be honest. My misses has a 370z roadster. As much as I expect my csan to be impractical the 370z roadster and the 350z she had before that were/are useless as an everyday car. Lovely cars to drive. Especially the 370z auto. But so little luggage space.

Hello Mark and welcome from a Lincoln member.
If you are interested in Tipec meetings I have frequented the SYNN (was SYND) region meetings since 2004, a very friendly group with plenty of interesting outings organised.
The web site is :- http://www.synd.org.uk/ should you be interested.
Meetings 1st Sunday in the Month 7pm at Ye Olde Bell Hotel, Barnby Moor, Retford, Notts, DN22 8QS (Not that far up the A1 from Newark.)
Clive
(North Hykeham)

Thanks for the info Clive. I lived in Lincoln until a year ago. Near the football ground and would be interested in meeting up. Think I will be working for October meet but November sounds promising.

Hopefully see you there.

Hi Mark,
Sorry I couldn't join you tonight (don't get out in it much now, family commitments dictate I'm afraid. Did manage a 50mile drive last Sunday though)
Clive

That's fine Clive, I went anyway and about a dozen people turned up. Looks like it's quite active and they have lots of things planned so the wife and I are planning to go as often as possible.

I'll say ''Ello' here - as we've just moved to the Sleaford / Newark area (South Kyme). We're hoping to frequent SYNN having arrived here from Southern if they'll have us (though Southern might warn 'em off teehee).

Just for the record: I know nothing about cars, I'm disabled, SWMBO has big knockers, I drink far too much red wine, we're both retired (early), I drive to Portsmouth every week, I've perfected the Sunday roast beef, I'm an ex-musician, I swear a lot, big cricket fan, love convoy driving (though I'm a bit of a lightweight). There, that's all I'm telling ya!!

Mark I'm in a base manual Boxster (987) having come from a Cayman S - a story you might not want to hear so mum's the word lol.

Best wishes
Waz
