Hi & welcome. Been washing & polishing mine today, looks bloody good now. Did the driving bit yesterday, had to go shopping so using the 944 seemed a good idea

Hi all, thanks for the welcome. I will try and get to the Red Lion tonight. Foz - for me to be in your rear view mirror you need to overtake me first... :toothy7:

Lots for you and the 993 to get involved with.

Hi Jargle and Foz,

It has been noted that neither of you were there last night.

The R.O. and I were devastated.

20 other Porsches there including my 993 as well as another 993 turbo

Magic quiz designed by the R.O.

Lots to see and do and talk about

Look out for the reminder about next month's event which is going to be rather tasty.

Even if we can't spend the night kicking tyres there is usually something else on and we have lots of things planned

See you there along with all the other members

Hi paul, thanks and I have put the date in the diary :occasion5: . I want to pick brains about wheels - mine is still is on original 16" which look a bit lost...mulling over 17 or even 18 inchers...

Hi

Cannot see a change from 16 inch to 17 inch wheels being too much of a problem. On the 993 Targa 17 inch wheels were standard

Two things to think about though are the wheel offsets and tyre sizes

If offsets if vastly different this will affect the handling characteristics of the car

Secondly if you go to 17 inch wheels then tyre sizes come into play; so as not to give false readings on speedo; this is due to changing overall circumference of outer contacts. Therefore, if you go this route you may need to think about the tyre sizes you use

Finally, going to 18 inch wheels may be a push to far. You are now getting into an area which will affect all of the above and the steering. If you go this route then I think you will need to brace the steering due to extra loading placed upon it

agree with brian re the bracing on 993s, altho' the turbo had 18's so you could use those parts and wheels which should be correct offset

The deed is done. I bought 18" cup 3´s or are they turbo twists? Anyway mymarak you are quite right I need a bracing strut and have duly bought that and a couple of bolts, am awaiting the technical assistance of Foz to get it on somehow so the puppies aren´t on yet. They are OEM 996 issue by the look of the alloy detail and date stamps, fit a treat as they line up cock on with the flare of the back end - that was my main worry.

When I went to look I did fit them and drive gingerly around for a while to test them. felt fine to be honest. I deliberately drove over manhole covers cats eyes etc and it felt fine. So, hopefully you will see them at the next meet!
