Annual Awards

For those of you that don't know the club has two awards which it presents every year. There are lots of unsung heroes out there who do a great job for the club and its members. Working voluntary and making sacrifices so we can all get the maximum enjoyment from our cars and the social side of ownership.
The Drury and Philips award goes to the member of the year, and the Regional Organiser of the year award to an RO.
The Drury and Philips award goes to Paul Bird of the Central region.
Paul finalises the clubs accounts, runs a region, organises several National events as well as a full social calendar for the Central Region. It's also fair to say he hasn't been in the best of health over the last 6 months which he has kept quiet about (the dodgy walk might have been a give away though). Thanks mate you've been tremendous and it was a pleasure to present you with the new trophy.
The RO of the year award goes to Gordon Collins.
Gordon has done a great job with the Southern Region doubling it's membership during 2007. His enthusiasm and ability to scrounge and pester is second to none. There is a great spirit in the camp and the funday is one example of a region pulling together to make an event happen. Unfortunately he wasn't at Gaydon last week so I presented the trophy at the funday today, for once he had nothing to say.
I have a few other thank you's to make for people who have also helped a great deal in 2007 and continue to do so.
Jim Tarrant (Guru) as well as being Gordon's assistant, has done a fantastic job with the forum and website since it's introduction in late 2007. He beavers away behind the scenes and makes sure it all ticks over with the least amount of fuss. Constantly fine tuning and adding new features to make the site even better. Cheers mate, on behalf of everyone who uses the site.
Clive Gosling has done a great job with advertising and sponsorship. Without his persistance last years show would have been a financial flop and he did a fantastic job again this year. He lives quite close to me and is a source for much needed support and encouragement, thanks Pal.
