Makes me worry that it reduces the value of the membership fee though - I'd rather see it in a members only section, with one or two older samples available to all comers.

I was able to justify the membership fee to myself and Mrs Swapped through breaking even on the legal insurance offer, and gaining another magazine to join those already preventing the lid of the cistern from floating off. If I had been able to take my laptop in there to read the mag without paying to join, it would have weakened my argument, somewhat.

Maybe we should keep the mag one issue behind. :?:

I'm sure Tony will have some ideas on how he can do this.

I think maybe this is one of those “ask the club members what they actually want” sort of questions.

Here’s three possibilities. Anyone got any other suggestions?

  • Carry on as we are, assuming that receiving a printed copy is much nicer than reading the magazine online and thus still a major perk of membership
  • Put the whole magazine online two months later than it goes out in the post (one issue behind)
  • Put the regional reports online straight away, so that all the meeting info etc is up to date and accessible, but don’t post the main magazine articles online at all (maybe put a content precis online alongside, as a taster and encouragement to join the club)

That's the one.

Contents, or a sample article, or perhaps the Chairman's column , which is generally a summary of what's what currently anyway.

An online archive of magazines would be a useful resource. What about requiring logging on to view them?

Jim.

Yes yes yes.

It would let recent arrivals like me catch up with the spirit of the place - I grabbed a couple of back-copies at the NEC while everyone had their backs turned, but I'd be just as happy with PDFs.

Its a delicate balance Gordon, showing enough to wet the appetite yet still making them want to join and feel that they are getting a real benefit and value for money by joining, have not got that secret formula but I don't feel that we are far from it

Any one else still waiting or is it only me. Well I can look at it online but not so easy to read in bed that way!
