In the current issue of All Torque there's an artical called Dyno Day @ Weltmeister. Does anyone have the results for all the cars tested? :?:

I would guess Richy Salmons does - he organised it.

Thanks for that. Interesting to see what the different models really put out at the wheels. Lots less than is usualy talked about! 170 to 180 for an S2 eh....... Would have made the journey if I'd known but the list had only turbos on when I looked!

There was a lot of chat about the day on the Titanic email list. Anyone looking for more discussion (rather than facts and figures) could do worse than look there.

Hmmm I was under the impression that manufacturers quoted flywheel figures only, you know, to boost sales etc.

If that's true there is a E-reg 2.5 that has only lost 12ish ponies in 20 years. Not 3 bad if you look at it like that.

Wasn't talking about manufacturers figures. Just what some poeple had told me an s2 put out at the wheels. (Which made mine look even worse)Not saying its bad. Wish I had that much grunt myself. Interesting to see the different power & torque curves of the models. Shame no 2.7 though.

JJ, sorry, no offence was intended! I was merely saying that despite what folks might say about measurements at the wheel, the only official figures released by porsche were probably based on readings at the flywheel, so anything else should really be taken with a pinch of salt.

If you take the standard view that 25% or so is lost through the transmission then undoubtedly some of these cars might benefit from some work on the drivetrain (which lets face it is often overlooked in favour of the engine).

Indeed 'tis shame about no 2.7 but I will happily put mine on the dyno given the opportunity.

I was always under the impression that Porsche (unlike other manufactures) base all there performance figures on an average, not the one maximum reading that they got? :?:

I don't understand :? That is spot on for an S2 at the wheels.

Porsche quote 211bhp at the flywheel so allowing roughly 15% for driveline losses through the torque tube and gearbox brings us down to the area of 180rwhp (rear wheel horse power).

I agree paul. Thats why I was so interested in the graphs posted. You didn't reply when I was asking what they did! (Not on here.)
