Ben made a fair comment on the most recent All Torque:

Not many regional write ups in this edition.

I thought I could maybe address that here in a new thread so that more people might read it.

As things stand, each region’s RO or Assistant RO writes up a report on what their region has been up to in the past couple of months and a calendar of what they have planned for the future. They email that to me and I make them look pretty for the magazine.

I think these ‘Gruppe’ pages are the most important part of All Torque. They serve a practical purpose. Not every club member attends their local monthly meetings and not every club member reads this online forum … but they do all get the magazine in the post. This is their newsletter, their information source and their link to fellow members.

Of course, writing these reports is an extra workload for the ROs, who are already very, very busy with all the work they do for the club—all entirely voluntarily and often with little thanks. Not everybody will have the time and ability to write up a report for every single issue, so I think it might be helpful if everyone was comfortable with delegating this job whenever they don’t have time themselves.

If, as RO, you’re too tight for time when the All Torque deadline is looming, please consider asking your ARO to take a turn at writing the report—or even one of your region’s regular members. It’s something any club member can help with and who knows—a fresh eye on the monthly events might help to spark ideas for new activities too.

When there’s no time to write up past events, I think a list of what’s to come should still be submitted—that’s what our members need to know about, to be able to join in and enjoy their club.

Hi Tony,

I couldn't agree with you more.

As far as the list of annual events go it is no big deal to sort that out

Paul and I have a very active and the largest region. However, it only takes us about half a day to sort out the calendar for the year. Every year between Boxing Day and New Year's day we finalise the forth coming club year as best we can for early publication in All Torque and on the forum. An e-mail also goes out to our regional members to advise them of events and they also get regular mailings to keep them up to date with any changes or new inclusions

Also we get valuable assistance from a very supportive core of members who help us to organise the events as well as find time to help us put on the annual show at the NEC (four days of non stop action)

The club is like life; you get out of it what you put in.

Nuff said

Hi,

Glad we've finally addressed this issue. Well said Tony.
