Guys and Gals

This forum has been going for a year now and we pride ourselves for being recognised as a friendly club.

There was a big debate when we set up this forum about if being free and open to the wider Porsche community.

We don't like moderating and want very much to keep it that way.

Please keep it free and unmoderated Sean.

I hope posters learn to moderate themselves - it's much better that way.

Keep the "I" in TIPEC

I dislike moderation too but it has it's place.

The other option we have is make the forum read-only to non-members. Not that palatable either tbh but we're currently open to abuse of sorts.

It is a friendly and amusing place to be, and I'm big enough to apologise for my recent outbursts which should not have been put onto an open forum. I don't change my views, but I apologise for the mis-use of the board. It won't happen again.

For the record, I reported my own posts to get them removed as soon as I realised just how upset people were about it.

Sean & I will be looking at posts a lot stronger in the next few weeks, quite a few transgressions have occurred recently & repeated violations will see the relevant person banned.
I've seen dodgy posts that transgress politeness & good taste, you know who you are (no names,no pack drill) & expect you to behave in future.
Behave & play nicely & we won't need to moderate!

Hi :)

I have avoided posting anything contentious for a while now...

But I am afraid I have to answer this thread....

This Forum IS moderated, and censored.....you deleted separate Threads and posts by both myself and Roland.....

Which is your right to do, but cost you my membership fee ....

The point I am making here is that Moderation is fine but it has two sides.....if its done too heavily and becomes censorship , members will leave...and cost Tipec money, if its done too lightly, it creates other problems....

All the best Brett :)

I'll own up to half of that as well Brett, so don't blame the moderators. I reported the Rev.Roland post. I wasn't offended by what he said, I am not at all a PC person, I don't believe in giving people priority because of their colour / religion / sexual preference / financial status (poor people), but I was concerned that his posting would upset a PC person and before you know where you are there are problems and the ubiquitous 'racist' word is being banded around and associated with this forum - not ideal. I didn't report his other posts as they were 'within limits' should we say.

Like I said, I am not PC, but I am very factual. I am the man who sat in Chester County Court, looked the overweight female Asian judge in the eye and said "I am very factual, so if I say you are ugly it's because you are and therefore you cannot sue me".

I won the case.

Richard, yes it was excessive & those involved have been censured. I'd been away otherwise I think the comments would have been jumped on earlier. I assume you had no issues at meetings? It would be very sad if you decided either not to come to meetings or renew based on the stupid comments of a couple of people & take it from me they don't represent the rest of TIPEC, if they did then I wouldn't be here.

Agree with that Jim. I think the majority of members are good decent family folk. Our mob are great here in the SELNK group and you'd be welcome at our meeting any time!

it did get a bit personal, but we all have different ideas, a similar thing happened about turbocharging, but is all resolved and those concerned are now talking again, lets keep it down and not get the moderators involved and we'll all be happy :D
