Pretty much pointless posting that question on here as the majority are not active on the forum.

There are members whom have been in the Club for years, that have never been seen or heard of. :?

The forum is a great communication tool, Club Nights are very sociable, events are great fun. That said 50% of the members of this Club will not participate on any level.

Take the last magazine for example. I received as many notes about the issue number cock up in Apri, l as I did complimenting the 100th issue.

The Show in September will be stacked out with Porsches, the majority will be from the wider Porsche owning community. Our turnout for our own event will be small by comparison, which I think is a real shame. It will not in anyway detract from the event. It just further highlights that people join with no intention of getting involved.

I have been active in this for over 7 years now and during my tenure I am sure "herding cats would be easier".

We should always try and I will never give up but we have to accept some people are watchers and lurkers. The forum has many more people who read it than have actually registered or posted.

ah I have always known that having been around as long. I just wonder if we can make regions more accesible to members. this isnt so bad in the more urban areas but southern is a fairly disparate area, a triangle from say lyme regis up to Shaftesbury down to Christchurch(?) then there is Devon from which i dont seem to hear much,( maybe i am not listening though) so if there is little uptake in devon would there not be a case for looking at including them in southern stuff? just some thoughts to widen the uptake of activities which are worth exploring

He's been there and done that

Its a shame that we have parts of the country that are vast and for whatever reason have not been able to make them work.

Lincolnshire being one of them, Devon/Cornwall another. SELNK is another Region that covers Surrey/London/Kent, the meeting point is very North of the Region. Jim and Paul are doing a good job and they have events in the South of the region to give everyone a shot.

It certainly is not easy, always up for solutions. The reallity is it takes years to get established and enough numbers pitching up to make it all worthwhile. Few people have that kind of commitment or patience.

quite happily do it again

would it not be a case then given the lack of Devon stuff to have southern also cover devon. That way at least there is a region that people can identify with. I am fairly sure that the meetings could be organised at both ends of the southern remit ie closer to bridport and at the bournemouth end. eventually you would ideally want a regional meet in the most accessible area for all members. Am really just thiking off the top of my head here but there has to be a solution? weymouth is a large population centre, bridport lyme axminster honiton all are etc etc

I can understand lurking on a forum, but what is the logic in joining TIPEC and then not participating on any level?

Tony, it has been my opinion for a while that what we needed to was to make our events including regional ones as includive ss poss. Also as acessible to as many members as possible. Meetinds as central to the regions as they can be or even peripatetic if needs be for a while

Sorry Gordon, but me looking on a map and finding the centre of a geographical area, does not make the best meeting point. The members can discuss the meeting with their RO/committee, but meetings need to be where it's suitable for those who want to attend the meeting. I've travelled to other regions, and can see why they meet there, other regions have moved to more central locations and numbers have fallen. Meetings in Scotland have moved and all that happened was the same long term members just travelled further to go to the same meeting, so it moved back. I don't know a region that has an RO who wouldn't support events that the members want to go to?

It is my opinion that a region is what the members make it.
