The car is superb, can't believe you managed to keep that quiet for so long!

Signature revised now!

It was a strain keeping it quiet for a couple of weeks, but fun surprising you and Jason!

The M25 with the roadworks is an absolute killer if you get caught out.

I have to leave very early in the morning for a meeting in Cannock, so couldn't make it this year. Hopefully I will see you all at Gaydon and will get down before the end of the year. Do you still go for the post meeting curry?

Cracking photo of the hound taking shade under the spoiler.

Thanks for everyone for making this a great day.
We managed to take 5 cars down from the Thames Valley region and we were all made to feel very welcome.
For one of our member Jas, it was his first tipec event as he can't make our club nights. He seemed to have a great time and even went home with a trophy :D

Some lovely cars there, sadly didn't spend much time looking as I was too busy chatting and eating a good burger or two.
Talking of which, thanks to the chefs for doing the cooking and keeping us all well fed.

My other half Lindsay, who's only interest in horsepower is her ponies, seemed to enjoy herself.

I managed to solve the problem i had with fumes on the way down, the rear hatch wasn't closed properly due to tool box fouling on the rear wiper cover and allowing exhaust fumes to get in. It made for a much nicer drive home. The A31 was totally clear and allowed for some spirited driving along the GLF's.

Fab to see Al's new toy and don't know how you didn't tell any of us about it on Tuesday, actually you were fairly quiet on club night, you must itching to say something.
His n Hers Herbies, how cool

Good news mate, still reckon that bonnet seal would benefit from replacement.

Haven't decided yet. The Boxster will be more relaxing to drive, the digital speedo can be set to read out in kph and will be better for the spectacular scenery with the top down. It needs a few issues sorting first though like sporadic check engine light, creaking steering and the hood is starting to come adrift again.

Gina reckons I should take the Boxster as the 911 is an unknown quantity as far a reliability, although it has been checked over for the PPI and then by BS Motorsport.

What do you think?

I would personally take the Boxster, great for the higher mileage with the comfort and air con etc on the longer drags and you get top down fun in the mountains and twisties.

What I would say to all those making the trip is having been over Stelvio and the like (very high altitude) in the 996 just watch the temp gauge if you are hammering it up hill as mine very nearly overheated. I'd also check the expansion vessel that it's in good nick as I suffered from the common cracked tank high up in the Pyrenees. If there's something wrong with your car these trips will find it :D

Not sure how effective the air cooling is on the older cars so can't advise there but i'd guess you need to be watching your gauges also.

Also the whole trip will put ~2000 miles on the car, which is no problem in itself, but with the miles I have already completed it will use up half of my annual mileage allowance on the 911 insurance (5000 miles) in 2 months of ownership!

Another successful event at the Anderwood picnic area. Thanks to Andrew and his team for inviting us (PCGB) again, we always thoroughly enjoy ourselves at this event each year. :D After my success with the raffle my lottery ticket wasn't so obliging! :(

This was the first TIPEC event for my wife and I. We were made to feel very welcome and look forward to more in the future. Nice to chat to Al about his car (snap!). A big thanks to Andy, Jim, Steve and everyone else involved for all the effort and spare time put in to organising the event.

Ian & Hilary.
