Hi Folks

This is the second event of the year that has been specifically organised to help members get their cars ready for another season with Central Region TIPEC. Apologies for not posting this sooner on the forum but after sending out by email I forgot  As a result a lot of the spaces for this have already gone so please be quick if you want to attend!

The event will comprise:

1. Introduction to chassis and suspension tuning (5 mins)
The art of tuning the car to optimise grip in race car preparation, track enthusiast support and club support.
2. Camber, castor and toe (30 mins)
Practical demonstration using props and tyres to highlight
Camber - used for corner grip
Castor - changing steering feel and self centering
Toe - how toe affects the stability of rear wheel drive cars
Factors affecting steering pulling
3. Tyre Science (10 mins)
Tyre make, age, size design effects on handling
4. Wheel alignment (30 mins)
Real-time demonstration of the process of alignment using Lindsay's lovely Porsche 944 on the Center Gravity race flat.
How braking and application of power changes the rear and front geometry.
5.Corner weight balancing (30 mins)
The distribution of weight across the four wheels to ensure equal left-right turn performance.
Demonstration of corner weight balancing with a Porsche 911 and some pub-table physics.
There will be refreshments and breaks to stop people going into brain overload.

The whole visit will take about 2 to 3 hours.
For more information about Center Gravity please go to http://www.centergravity.co.uk

This event is strictly numbers limited due to accommodation size and safety issues
Therefore, this visit is on a first come, first served basis.

Members need to e-mail Brian at MyMerak@aol.com to secure a place.

If members want their car set up By Chris he will be offering a TIPEC discount for members who book on the day of the visit. Unfortunately, vehicle set ups cannot be done on the day of the visit because it can take a whole day to complete a car to suit a customers requirements.

Paul & Brian

Why not join TIPEC as well.

Many PCGB members do

The cost is far less, especially if you enrol for a two year membership.

Very friendly and relaxed club.

This will then guarantee you the discount as well as very good discounts elsewhere which will easily cover the cost of membership. Then you have the best of both worlds.

I was there too.

Wet and cold night.

For this visit, it will be TIPEC only and if people want to ask questions about there own cars then that will be after the structured part of the event is over.

I was concerned over the number of personal and spurious car related questions that some people who were not involved with TIPEC were asking which I am not keen to see happen on the occassion of our April visit.

At the end of the day this is to be a visit for all and only TIPEC members and will no doubt be of extra special interst to 944 or 968 owners as we will be using Lindsay's car as the demonstration vehicle. Also it would be nice to see the pink!? 964 there now it is finished?

Hi Brian,

Had a quick look at their website looks a very sw'd on company, that Beissbarth equipt is the latest gear, they use it on the touring cars for set-up at work. Very impressive.

Looking forward to it.

Hi Derrick

Thanks for that extra information

I have written a short article about Center gravity for the next edition of All Torque

Chris, who runs the business is an extremely enthusiatic person when it comes to vehicle set ups.

I agree

It would be good to see the Demonfish at the Red Lion every now and then

Not to mention the fact that the membership will easily pay for itself with the discounts now available to members

Not to mention the track days we are doing this year.
