Location: Ye Old Bell Barnby Moor. Date: 06 January 2008

In attendance:

Phil and Stephanie Barton (Red 924), Chris and Kathy Belfield (Silver Boxster S), Dean and Joanne Lancashire (Black Boxster), John Middleton (Silver 993), Jeff and Edith Adams (Silver 968), Paul Drury and Judy (Grey 968 Cabriolet), John Murray (Red 944), Dave and Anita Warren (White 944), Graham Britt (Black 993), Alan and Susan Fuller (Red 944 Cabriolet), Ray and Kathy Waite (Silver 993), Dennis and Mavis Smith (Red 356) Eric Finley (White 924S). Total 22.

A brief AGM was held to vote in the club officers for the year. All posts (i.e. RO, ARO and Treasurer) were up for nomination. Following the usual arm twisting and gentle coercion the following persons were elected;

RO: Paul Drury
ARO: Dean Lancashire
Treasurer: Judy Drury Phillips

Thanks were expressed to the outgoing officers for the work they have done over the past few months during what has been a period of change for the Region.

Since the last meeting:

The SYND Christmas Party took place at Ye Old Bell on the 8th December. A total of 24 members were in attendance and enjoyed an excellent meal and musical entertainment and all went home clutching presents courtesy of the Secret Santa.

Main meeting discussion points:

It would appear a number of members do not have any blank TIPEC membership application forms to hand out to potential new members Eric F and Chris B to bring to next meeting for distribution.
Piston heads Show at the NEC Dean L and Dave W have booked tickets if anyone one else is interested in going quote the booking code WLC04 and you will get two tickets at 28 for the price of one.
Go-karting to take place on Saturday 9th February. Approx 12 members to attend with meal afterwards. Dean L to organise and advise of times and any further information at next meeting.
Arrangements re the TIPEC track day at Bruntingthorpe on the 26th April are now being finalised Paul D handed out information re the event interested parties to make their booking directly with Bruntingthorpe contact number 0116 2799318 making reference to TIPEC (ask for Faye). Once a booking has been made inform Paul D who will give numbers who will be in attendance to the TIPEC organiser.
Early Spring Run to Gumnd on 30th March. Chris B to arrange visit with Gumnd Paul D and Dean L to plan a drive and organise a place for refreshments on the way home.
The 2008 WOTY in the Cotwolds this year and was initially planned to be held over the early May Bank Holiday period. After some further discussion it was agreed that we would move the date to be one week later to avoid the usual Bank Holiday visitors the area naturally attracts. As it happens this coincides with an organised run through the Cotswolds which is part of a Prescott Hill Climb meeting, a visit to which we could incorporate into the WOTY. Jeff A also advised that he had a couple of Cotwolds runs we could go on. Paul D to carry out further investigations re Prescott and Chris B to look at additional hotels where we could stay. Arrangements to be advised at the next meeting.
The TIPEC 2008 AGM will take place on the 13th April at Gaydon. A number of members will be in attendance everyone is welcome to attend.

Any other business:

Judy P reported the sad news that Dennis and Maviss friend Jeff had died on new years day. Jeff was well known to SYNN members and had attended our recent Christmas Party. A card was sent round for members to sign which will then be passed onto his wife by Judy.
Dean reported that due to the number of events planned around April and May he proposed that we postpone the Nurburgring trip until September this was agreed.
Dave W proposed that we have an Easter Egg Run during the Easter period with proceeds raised being donated to the Bluebell Wood Childrens Hospice. It was agreed that this was an excellent idea Dave to speak to the Hospice and advise of the format and date for the event at the next meeting.
Eric F reported that as part of his Area Directors duties he wished to promote more TIPEC Region event integration and proposed that the Balloon Festival held on the 17th August near Northampton could be an event SYNN, EMR and Central could all attend. It was agreed this was a good idea and we would support the event.
The date for the TIPEC National Day has now been finalised and will be held at Gaydon on the 3RD August which may mean we will have to postpone or change the date of our August club meeting.
Judy P suggested that due to the facilities available to us at the Old Bell (i.e. large car park and field at the back) we could invite another car club (e.g. The Dukeries) to join us one evening in the summer. It was agreed this should be considered and a final decision to be made later in the year.

Date of next meeting: 3rd February 5.30 pm for 6.00 pm if eating, 7.00 pm for the meeting.

Forthcoming Events: 13th January Pistonheads Show at the NEC.
9th February Go Karting at Swinton and meal afterwards.
15th March Visit to Maguires at Daventry and meal.
30th March Visit to Gmund, scenic drive and meal.

Many thanks to Chris Belfield for this report
