Post subject:  East Midlands Meet - 1st March 2017 - The Packe Arms

Evenin' all

You've probably seen a lot of activity with new / rejuvenated regions lately - I've offered to help to try to get something going in the East Midlands again.

Therefore I'm trying to gauge interest in a monthly get together somewhere between Nottingham and Leicester, probably something like the first Tues / Weds evening of each month. Somewhere around Loughborough would be an obvious choice, but it's not an area that I know too well.

So - two questions. Firstly who's interested?

Secondly - has anyone got a suggestion of a suitable venue? We're looking for a pub / hotel with a big enough car park that might be friendly towards a regular Porsche-related get-together.

A friend suggested the Crown at Old Dalby, which looks on google earth like it's got a big car park, but I don't know it at all. I might take a run down at the weekend to have a look, but I'd certainly welcome any suggestions. If you know of a potentially suitable place, I'm happy to give them a call to gauge their interest, so please fire some ideas at me.

Any feedback or suggestions are welcome.

Many thanks

Jim

Jim

It would be good to get something going in the East Midlands, Loughborough should work well as it is over an hour away from the South Yorks North Notts meeting at Barnby Moor. As they meet at the weekend, you may find that a few of the guys in Notts pop along.

Have we contacted the East Midland members, there are squite a few on the books despite the inactivity?

I would pick a pub with a decent car park, tell the world and see who rocks up. Much easier to canvas opinion on the night.

There will be a good attendance at Donnington Historic in late April.

If you need anything please give me a shout.

Good luck with it mate. Myself and Stuart got quite a shock how many turned up when we started the Peterborough region. It's a very rewarding experience.

Hi Jim

Nice to see the momentum is kicking in.
Michael who just posted is one of the guys I spoke to you about from the new Peterborough Region, they have had a great start to their first two meetings.

I looks like we should be able to find others to help out too, the threads elsewhere about finding a Porsche meeting in that area appeared at just the right time.
Google maps is great at dismissing certain venues but it really needs a visit to a few to find a suitable venue and one which is happy for us to be there.

Just a quickie, 'cos I'm on a tram...

We're on. Date is Weds March 1st. The venue is the Packe Arms, Rempstone Road, Hoton, Loughborough, Leicestershire, LE12 5SJ. I'll be there from 7pm.

Please put the word out. All are welcome!

I'll be emailing all of the E Mids members when I've got a few minutes.

Hope to see you on March 1st!

Cheers

Jim

Doing great Shaun. Changed jobs yet again (last job was sh 1t) and I put it down to that period of study. Onwards and upwards, and loving it. You?

Hi, I am a member from the "other forum" (not pistonheads), a fellow member there has mentioned this meet to me, so I thought I would say "hi", and I will come along all being well.

I have also posted a link on the "other forums" E.Mids thread about the Hoton meet. A lot (not all) of the E.Mids folk that meet up from the other site are based over near Stamford, but myself and the person that let me know about the 1st March, we both live in Charnwood so this is really handy, and the other site's E.Mids meet ups happen very rarely, so it was great to hear about Hoton.

Very much looking forward to it.

Mark

Not entirely sure what the "other" forum is. Not PCGB as they meet regularly.
I have always, and I mean ALWAYS, found TIPEC members to be very amiable and approachable. There are no heirs and graces, an each and every one of them, thus far, has been more than friendly.

You'll be made very welcome Mark. Look forward to seeing you (and anyone else) there.

Post subject:  Re: Notts / Leics possible meet

Morning Graham,
that all sounds very good thanks. I am just being discrete about the other forum, a bit like Radio 2 DJs say things like "other mp3 three players are available" without mentioning any product names :-) I'll happily spill the beans face to face.

I have heard great things about TIPEC, but my membership was elsewhere for 5 or 6 years (not PCGB). The meet ups I used to attend were W.Mids, and a 100+ mile round trip for me. The E.Mids meets v infrequent and again, usually a fair old trek. So, TIPEC E.Mids & a location in Hoton, alongside the intent to try and get a meet back on the calendar, it all seems a great time to come and say hello.

A little video here can tell you about as much about my Porsche love as anything can:

No issue mentioning 911UK or other forums.

We are a small community and i would prefer everyone to be included as long as they are like minded.

Speaking of the post on 911UK, it might be worth updating the first post with the details, save people having to read all of the thread.

Post subject:  Re: Notts / Leics possible meet

Yeah, the video gave away the 911UK link.
I think they met in Malden (yes?/No?). If so, I went there a few times. It was a little disjointed if my memory serves me correctly as the pub was like a myriad of different rooms.

Where's "Charnwood"? (I'm in Loughborough).
