Post subject:  East Midlands Meet

I am looking to join a Porsche owners club and came across TIPEC through recommendations on Pistonheads.

Whilst reviewing TIPEC.com i was happy to find out that the East Midlands monthly meet was local to me, so i thought i'd come along and meet the members.

Yesterday was the 3rd tuesday of the month (given as the meeting date) so i polished up the Porsche and headed up to the Field Head Hotel at Markfield for 7.30pm.

After driving in to a Porsche-less car park, i was told by the Hotel staff that the Porsche club no longer meets here.

There are no contact details on the East Mids Meet details page so i couldn't phone ahead.

http://www.tipec.net/regions/east-midlands/

I'm really hoping that someone will tell me that there is still a monthly meet, and where it takes place?

Not a great start to getting involved with a club.

Regards

Simon

Yes it's sad that the East Midlands always seems to get left out of things, not just Porsche things.

I've not been a member long so hope the East Midlands group is resurrected (sorry don't have the time ;-0 )

I was thinking the same thing about simply not having the time, i think its common these days, the whole country is stuck in a rat race.

Anyhow, if enough people respond to this post, i dont see why we cant meet one evening at a mutually convenient venue.

We still have the rest of sept & oct before the weather turns too bad.

Watch this space.

Hi Simon.

The Cheshire & Staffs region are having a run over to Cosford which I think is planned for the 11th of October if you fancy joining us as this shouldn't be too far for you. Gives you a chance to stretch the legs of Porsche :)

Let me know if you'd be interested and I'll let you know firm details when I have them.

It's a days run out from Knutsford, Cheshire down to the air museum at Cosford which is a cracking visit. You could join us wherever suits your location or meet at Cosford. Just a case of park the cars, chat about stuff we've done, grab a coffee, tour the museum, whatever you want to do really... and then probably a ride somewhere usually a pub or similar for a bite to eat and general chat and socialising....

It'll be a enjoyable day out and we usually get a good turnout from Cheshire & Staffs and Northwest regions jointly. All members are welcome to join in the fun as and when they wish :)

Will keep this post updated.

I live just around the corner (ish) and also visited the pub last year - nobody was there.... I was going to get the editorial team to change the magazine but never got around to it.

There is a meet in Meridian on the last Thursday of the month arranged on 911UK forum. It's a bit of a treck in winter for me but I will be going in the summer again.

If anybody is up for a meet in the East Midlands, I'm in.

Post subject:  Cambridgeshire/South Lincs/Bedfordshire/Norfolk Region

It appears that there is quite a large area in the west and north of Anglia that doesn't have a local group and was wondering how many of us are in this area that are just too far away from the closest region to be able to attend meetings. I'd very much like to be able to have a meet up with other members in the local area and go for drive outs etc.

If there are enough of us then it may be possible to sort something out, please make yourself known and maybe we can fill a pub car park with quality Porsche cars once or twice a month.

Cheers

Michael

Mike

It is always great to see some enthusiasm for getting a local group together. I think we need to pin it down a little as your proposed Region covers around 500 square miles. :)

Ideally we need to pick a town that lies in the middle of the void between:-

Anglia/North London/South Central Regions

We used to have a Cambridge/Beds Region until the RO moved away, a few have tried with a Lincs Region without success. It's a really difficult area to cover and difficult to get enough interest to make it worthwhile. With the right enthusiasm anything could happen!

Bristol were one of our smallest regions for a few years and now it is our largest by quite a margin. Sue/Mike have done a great job mobilizing the troops and have built a very region.

Once we have decided on a town/village we need a venue. Easy to find, decent car park, good food and an area that we can sit in every month. The rest follows from there.......

I can certainly understand where you're coming from. I was hoping to gauge the interest and find where other people were going to be travelling from and try to find something in the middle. I was thinking an area of Spalding/Boston in the north, Bedford and Cambridge in the south, kings lynn to the east and Peterborough to the west. How does that sound?

All sensible, gauging interest never really works because people don't know what they are committing to.

It's better to tell everyone that we are going to have a Porsche meet at The ..... on The ..... tell the world and hope a few souls turn up. Most regions started with a couple of people meeting up once a moth and grew from there.

Good point well made. I'll give it some thought and try to find a decent pub with good food and decent parking reasonably central to my thoughts of the region.

Hi Michael,

I have had a lot of interest from people in and around the Peterborough region and it's something i've been looking into in the last few weeks.
As Sean has mentioned, the bristol region started out small and it only takes a few keen people to help that grow.
Those I've spoken to are keen to help set something up.

Hope to have some more info very soon,
