I went testing with Mick at croft on Tuesday he was looking to get his Beemer in the 1.46
Preseason testing was to give him a chance to shake the car down and check out what the opposition had done in the off season. Testing went well and I bullied Mick into making some changes to the set up on the shock absorbers. Three sessions later we were in mid 1.42 Fastest lap for Mick is a low 1.41 in a race. Hopefully this new low testing laps will mean a faster lap time during race day. Mick has threatened to but some new tyres for this season but had to blow the budget on his tow car and trailer tyres after all you got to get to the track first. I think the new found pace may make him find the cash for new rubber. Current rubber was on the car when he got it 3 years ago. I think he could do a 1.39 with new rubber. There was some fast stuff out there a Caterham was running low 1.30 Ken Hall was out in his 6R4 but didn’t get it running well all day I think he was sand bagging it looked very impressive on the practice starts pulling out 4 car lengths in 100m on last years champion winner who has installed a ex Citroen works engine in his Saxo.
