Hi folks.

Does anyone have any experience of these people? Up on the wild moors at Ipstones, between Buxton, Asbourne and Stoke (postcode ST10 2NG).
In the middle of nowhere, doesn't advertise - not even a sign on the lane outside his workshop.

He's done an Audi RS2 for a mate of mine, who was extremely pleased with the result but says it was not cheap.

He's a hands-on boss who doesn't "half do" jobs; all or nothing: Jag C-types, XK140s and 150s, E-types, DB2s. Says he's done 944s and 911s before; runs a 964 himself.

Thinking of getting mine restored, but it's a sharp intake of breath before laying out his kind of cash. I went up there last Tuesday and came away impressed, if a little shaky at the cost.
Wondering if any NW or Cheshire & Staffs guys have met him.

Tim.

Hi Brett. Still awaiting a written estimate, but he gave me a verbal for the 968.

Sitting down? Then I'll begin.

- labour (glass out, doors n trim off) £6-8k
- paint £800
- parts as needed on a 23-year old car - £2k?
- VAT at 20%

All up, wrong side of £13,000!

Result would be concours though. He's also done 30s stuff like Cord 810 and Talbot T23.

Question is: even if I could find the money, it wouldn't at that much to the value of the car. It's not a low-mileage Sport, CS or 911...

Tim

Brett - while we're on : how much was your wrapping job? How much surface prep was needed? Could you go back to paint? Would you?
Tim.

Hi Tim :)

Thats a ridiculous price for a respray....

Most Porsche owners i know go to a guy called Dave >>>>> https://www.facebook.com/groups/234391562636/

He owns the spray company and does PERFECT work... as a guess on yours, around 6 to 9 k for a full perfect glass out respray....and I do MEAN PERFECT....

Give Dave a ring and mention my name , it may help lol... http://www.daytonacoachworx.co.uk/about-us

I realise its a long way from you but well worth the trip....you will save thousands...

My wrap cost £1500 with a few bits of preparation..but the guy who did it was rubbish...so looking to have it rewrapped over the winter....cost around 2.5 to 3k for a perfect wrap...

All the best Brett :)

Thanks Brett.

Moorland don't seem altogether unreasonable, but I do think the quality of the job is way above what I need, so it makes it financially unrealistic.

I've seen Dave's work - he's doing a 968 Sport for Peter ("Oily" on porsche968uk.co.uk) at the mo - but there's not so much difference between Peter's price and what Moorland are saying.

Thanks anyway: I'll contact him.

Cheers, Tim.
