A warmer welcome this month with the temperature starting to rise up here in Scotland. A good turnout this evening with 15 bodies here tonight and 9 Porkers on display in the Boness Motor Museum car park.

Firstly this evening a quick mention on this Sunday Cars on Campus car show in Ayrshire. We will all meet just outside the School on Grassyards Road, Kilmarnock, postcode KA3 7SL AT 0945 AM then we can all arrive together and park up inside the School grounds where the event is taking place. Those of you who wish to go last minute can do so as there are spaces available and you will need £4 to display your car at this event. No gazebo as it is on hard standing ground. So far 7 cars from the club are going this Sunday.

Next it will be the Bridge of Allan Classic car show on the 17th May and I am told this year will be the biggest attended in terms of volume of cars entering the show to be on display, a real favourite show over the years with many of us and we have 17 cars confirmed and I do have 1 spare pass at this stage only so first come first served if you wish it!!!!!!!! We will meet at Stirling services at 0845 and a 0900 depart for the show. We will have the gazebo and full catering facilities on board with us.

The Sunday Lunch run on the 31st May has been put together by Martin and Elaine Whitelaw and we will meet at 1030am at Straiton Retail Park in the car park outside Halfords information sheets will be handed out to where we are going and to what we are visiting now it will be a mystery until the morning of when you are handed the info sheets etc explaining the route and various meeting spots so have your sat nav as a back up but your trusted co pilot will read the instructions and guide you expertly from point to point ( ha ha ha ha) I can tell you it will be heading down East Lothian way and Lunch will be at the Open Arms Hotel. (2 coursed £16 and 3 courses £19) Have pocket money for other wee visits along the way!!!. A healthy crowd signed up for this day out if you wish to join us the let Elaine now ASAP so they can book lunch numbers etc with the Hotel prior to our arrival.

There is a slight amendment to the Diary of events to which I have resent out via email and the change is next month at club night we will be having Angelwax along to demonstrate there quality detailing products, Matt and the team will be along to host the evening and this particular evening will be open to non club members wishing to come along so anyone with a friend or neighbour interested in car detailing will most welcome to come along. The date of the June meeting will be Wednesday 3rd of June normal club night and of course at Boness Motor Museum 1900 ish start to this evening. There will be a chance to purchase some products on the evening in question. The Restoration workshop visit and buffet evening will be the following month on the 1st of July (meet details etc to follow)

June the 7th takes up to the ever popular Thirstaine Castle Classic car extravaganza there 43rd anniversary and we have 19 cars confirmed and I have 2 spare passes set aside and again first come first served!!!! We will meet at Straiton Retail Park outside Halfords Car Park at 0815/ 0830 depart to the show. A fabulous setting with over 1500 vehicles of all eras and types from Motor bikes to Buses etc and not to forget the vast auto jumble on offer. We will have the gazebo and full catering facilities with us as per the norm and all we need is the sun so fingers crossed.

June the 21st sees us at Lathalmond for the Festival of Historic Transport we are only allowed 10 spaces at this event and we have 7 cars confirmed so 3 spaces spare at the current time. Once again first come first served meet details etc to follow.

James McLauchlan mentioned this years BBQ and Concourse event would take a different format from previous years. The BBQ will be the same with me slaving away with the BBQ, however the 2 competitions that will be running on the day will be entered by yourself and you may choose to which competition you wish to enter weather it be the Street Concourse or the Concourse D'Elegence. You will only be allowed to enter 1 of the 2 competitions and there will be a 1st, 2nd and 3rd for both .Always a popular day out and a chance to meet many of the other members from the region and a day to relax and chill out while we wine and dine you free gratis for all members and there immediate family not to mention the Boness Motor Museum will be open for those wishing to visit it.

As you can see from the list below a vast array of events and days out and anyone wishing any more info on the list below then please do not hesitate to get in touch with us and we will be only to happy to answer and questions etc you may have.

Very nice and good to tell everyone what's going on, but do we really need to be calling meetings and minutes in a club like this?

I think it would be good to do these reports but perhaps steer away from the austere terminology because if I read that as a new arrival I'd definitely steer clear?

We're supposed to be having fun with our hobby not going to work, I don't even do this for work meetings :D

Hi Paul

I understand your comments to a degree, when I first joined the club many years ago it was very difficult to know what was going on in the region unless you attended the monthly club meetings. Now with the Scottish region that is very difficult with the geographical way Scotland is. We have members that are 250 miles away on an island and unless they receive these monthly meeting minutes then they are out in the cold so to speak. Since the introduction of this structure I have had nothing but very positive comments from the region's members with regards to this all in all. It would probably not suite smaller regions that are close together and are very inactive(sad but some regions are like that!!!!!)

The Scottish region is a very active region like many other regions and it functions well the group email/monthly meeting minutes, also it is handy for our spontaneous days out if we decide last minute for a run in the country for a bag of chips. The weather plays a role up here in Scotland and on a couple of occasions we have had to cancel events and BBQ days at the last minute due to adverse weather so it has all the benefits for our region but maybe not for other regions.

The role of the RO for any region is to give the members what they want and the monthly meeting minutes is something they defiantly want so it will continue as with Paul.

However having said all of that if you can suggest to me a more informal way of getting it all across to members in a different style then I am all ears mate.

Cheers Neil RO Scotland
