TIPEC SCOTLAND
MAY 2014 MONTHLY MEETING MINUTES.

Welcome to everyone to this month's meeting 22 bodies and a 11 Porkers in the car park a good turnout . A special welcome this evening to Steve Brown and Alan Speirs new members to the Scottish region. A nice Carrera C4s and a speed yellow 997 Cabby Turbo, both looked stunning parked up. Welcome along guy's to the Scottish region.

James McLauchlan thanked everyone who was present on the Spring weekend run to Portpatrick. The gang seemed to get great weather for the weekend and James has submitted a separate article to the editor so all being well in the next edition of All Torque. Many thanks James for putting the weekend together another job well done!.

A huge thanks to Matt Collins and the team at ECOSSE AUTOMOTIVE here in Boness for hosting the rolling road day on the 5th April. An excellent turnout and Matt and the team did everyone proud i have too say. I have submitted a seperate article on the rolling road day for the next All Torque together with all the results of everyone's car who went on the rollers and a thank you also to the PCGB guy's who came along and shared the day in question was good to get a chat and catch up with them also.


Next event will be The Grampian Motor Museum this weekend(11th May) as you are aware included in the £10 entry fee is a hog roast BBQ and free admission to the museum. I will collect entrance fee's once we are at the show, these have been paid in advance by myself and I have the passes already to hand out prior to entering the show. We will be meeting at Kinross Services at 0830 for a 0845 depart for the show a fair old trek about 105 miles from the services. We need to be onsite at the show no later than 1145am. Martin and Elaine Whitelaw we will meet you at the show as you are staying over night on the Saturday prior to the show. I have emailed those going just to confirm they are still attending, if you are unable to go then please let me know ASAP so I can reallocate your ticket. We will have the gazebo and have tea/coffee facilities with us and of course the BBQ feed mmmmmmm.



Also in May will be the ever popular Bridge of Allan Classic Car show in Stirling on the 18th of May always a favorite show for the members and always a good day out I have to say and always has auto jumble some form of entertainment and a great ice cream van or two from memory. We will meet at Stirling Services for this one at 0900/0915 depart for the show. We will have the Gazebo and tea/coffee facilities as per the norm for the shows/events we go to so all you caffeine lovers out there don't panic!!! A good 20 cars booked up for this show and passes etc have been applied for and will be handed out prior to entering the show at the services.

The 1st of June see's us once again at the ever popular Thirlstaine Classic Car show down in the Scottish borders in Lauder. We will meet at Straiton retail park, just of the Edinburgh city bypass post code EH20 9QY for those with sat nav it will be a 0830/0845am depart for the show. I still have 3 or 4 passes left for this show so anyone wishing to go then please get in touch ASAP and ill put you on the list. A great show with cars, motorbikes, buses, lorry's and plenty auto jumble and please don't forget the ice cream vans. We will have the gazebo and tea/coffee and wee treats with us also. There is over 1500 vehicles on display at this show and something for everyone I have to say.

Next month's club meeting(June 4th) will be a bit different from the norm we will be attending a demo restoration evening down at Knowes Farm down in East Lothian post code for those with sat nav EH42 1XJ. This evening is being hosted by Bill Dalgetty vintage and classics restoration. Bill will be hosting the evening from start to finish and a complimentary buffet and snacks will be provided for all those attending. For those of you out there wondering how panels are made from scratch with all the old tools of yester years and present this will be an evening for you plus a chance to see what Bill is currently restoring a couple of genuine 356's and a 1980's 911 and a 924 Martini plus other vintage classics in the workshop. A chance to get some tips and hints on the restoration side and to see what goes on behind the scene's. Please let me know you are coming as i need numbers for catering etc. The premises are approx 1 mile past East Linton and Knowes Farm is clearly sign posted prior to the turning of the main road. PLEASE DO NOT COME TO BONESS ON THIS EVENING AS WE WILL NOT BE THERE!!!!


Next on the agenda will be the Errol show on Sunday 8th June we will meet at Kinross services at 0830/0845 depart for the show approx 30 miles away. Another great show with a huge outdoor and indoor market next to the show so again something for everyone at the show and as always a very popular show with auto jumble etc etc. The gazebo tea/coffee etc will be with us as per the norm and i need to have the application in by this weekend 10th May so let me know if your coming ASAP. I will order ex amount of passes meantime.

Moffat classic car rally this year will be on the 29th June and I have reserved 20 spaces for this show and have 11 confirmed already so be quick to get your name down good show with approx just under a 1000 vehicles on display plus good auto jumble and a nice town to walk round I have to say with plenty shops etc open even on a Sunday. I will at a later date email meet details etc closer to the day in question. Please let me know if you wish to come to this show and I will add you to the list.


Other events etc in the diary are as you see folk's the Annual TIPEC national show in Beaulieu looks fabby again a separate email has went out regarding this and a few have booked up already and any questions etc regarding this contact myself direct on the contact details below. The annual BBQ event is July not to be missed as will be Scotland's largest gathering of Porsches on the 31st August at Calderglen Country Park in East Kilbride this is a Brain Wood Special show and we had just short of a 100 Porsches last year and id expect to exceed that this year a great family day out also.


The Christmas bash has already been put together by Elaine Whitelaw ARO West, I have circulated the email regarding this around the members and I know it is still very early on in the year but the venue is extremely popular and to avoid disappointment we need to be reserving early. The Hotel is the Mercure Barony Castle Hotel and Spa in the Scottish Borders on the 20th December a very nice venue Elaine has sought out for us please visit www.baronycastle.com for a look at the venue looks spectacular to be honest.
