Renewal time for my Porsche. Been with the same company (NIG) for 4 years without problem. No claims. No convictions. But now thanks to the credit crunch. They are pulling out of the uk market. Nobody else it seems wants to insure my car unless it's in a garage. Difficult as I live in a flat without garage parking. Looks like I will have to sell it. I've spent the last 4 years rebuilding & sorting this car having spent far too much on it. It truly is in great condition. Passed it's MOT last week with no advisories. It's crazy. Had a seicento trashed but never any trouble with the Porsche. To kids it's just an old car. Can't see anybody stealing it. By modern standards it's not that quick. I can get insurance no problem on a V8 Jag with 300HP for less than £500! Far more likely to be damaged. So why not my Porsche? :(

My 944 is with Avviva through Adrian Flux. No restictions like mileage, garage or area and it is £30 a month by direct debit. As far as they know it is parked in the street and it is my daily driver. I don't know why they wont offer you something? Perhaps this is to come for me once I try and renew on the 944.

Thanks for the ideas. Actually posted on this before  Getting a bit stressed.
CVI & Haggerty no go. Lancaster & Sureterm from compare the market quote online but refuse when you ring them up. Tried Aviva but they changed there opening hours so that has to wait. Don't have time to spend on the phone at the moment! I have got one quote but it's double what I was paying before with no changes!
I use it sometimes though not all the time for commuting. Could take that off but then it won't get so much use & it keeps it in good condition.
I don't have a garage. Big problem in this area.
The car has some modifications. Nothing major but the word seems to bring them out in a rash. Club sport steering wheel, Bridge spoiler, Boxster alloys. Probably most people don't tell them. Theres a Boxster in the car park with a club sport wheel I bet he hasn't told the insurance about it. If it had stretch tyres & was lowered to the floor what then?
I could buy a shed 2nd car & garage the '44 at a friends but if I do that I just won't use it enough & the car will deteriorate. Not happy. :help:

Most insurance companies are only referring to performance mods. I told them I had a Momo wheel...didn't count...

At last I have insurance! :bounce: Cheers Lee I owe you a beer. Tried Classic line no joy. Then Aviva. No joy. Then Adrian Flux! They put me on with Aviva????? Mad world insurance. All mod's listed. (& yes it does make a difference.) £360 which for a daily drive including commuting isn't too bad. Nearly £200 less than Footman James wanted. Now I can get on with fixing the thing. Phew. :occasion9:

Nice one J.J. So Aviva quoted you happy in the end  With insurance companies all owning part of each other it seems you never know who's name is going to be at the top of the certificate :? I still sent in a list and pictures of all my mods just to cover myself even though my company didn't really ask for it just wanted pics of condition for guaranteed value. Only ended up paying £20 quid extra, result :D
Now go and enjoy

Andy

Good news :D

Dont think Ill ever understand insurance, Aviva who I was previously with for over 10 years quoted me just under £1000 for the boxster, checked one of the comparison sites and ended up getting for £500 through Endsleigh - buts its an Aviva policy ??????

Insurance, don't talk to me about insurance. Had a bad couple of days at work. One of the buildings I work in has Direct Line and Churchill in it. Sorry I said "has" when I mean had. Building is to shut and now over 600 people paid off. :(
