Post subject:  The American question

Hi TIPECs,

I'm about to purchase a 996 C2, I have oodles of NCB and sports car history, so getting insured isn't a problem despite living in London - and am currently with REIS.

My issue is that my wife is American (learned to drive on manual RWD muscle cars, so no 'auto-only' nonsense), and the UK has ceased to honour her US driver's license as she's been in the UK more than a year, which means she has only a provisional license here.

REIS won't cover her, at all, not because she has a provisional license, but because she hasn't owned a sports car in the last 5 years. She moved to the UK 7 years ago so hasn't owned a car in the UK, so has no car ownership to her name.

I'm not expecting her to do a lot of driving, we live in London so tend to use public transport for everything other than getting out of the city for the weekend. I'm wondering whether anyone has had
a similar challenge in the past and has found a way round it, or a helpful insurer?

Thanks,

Fox
