Hi,

As per the title, do you need to declare additional factory options to the insurance company? e.g. GT3 Aero kit, Different optioned wheels, genuine porsche sports exhaust?

What about if the parts fitted are genuine and fitted by Porsche?

I am currently looking at various cars that have these fitted as Factory options?

Thanks..

If they are factory options ordered from new they are not modifications.

Most insurers will not load the premium for modifications made to a standard car if these mods were originally available as an option.

If in any doubt, declare spec to insurer.

From experience you have to make quite significant modifications for the insurers to either load the premium or refuse to insure it. However if you have made a modification and not declared it this can sometimes give them the right to refuse paying out in the event of a claim. Always best to declare or you can be waisting your money on the premium, especially on fully comp.

You need to declare them especially if you want like for like when they pay out.

A C2 with a factory GT3 body kit and wheels will be worth more than one without. Always worth sending them pictures for the file if you are not on a classic policy with agreed value.

Thanks for the replies.

I am struggling at the moment to get a low insurance quote because I want business use with a 10-13k mile limit and my NCB is in use on my daily driver (A6 2002, 1.9 TDI)...

The cheapest quotes so far have been on Money supermarket, Admiral and Elephant with the mods declared. The only downside is they don't payout for the mods, there is no agreed value, no track day cover...

I just need to ring a few more specialist insurers this week.....

So, I dont need Business use. I have a contract for the next 12 months at the same location which is classed as commuting..

Classic Line insurance have given me the best quote so far... 10k Miles, All mods covered, trackday cover, agreed valuation (can I get a valuation from TIPEC?), no need to use NCD..

For me, having the car parked in the garage or drive made a difference of £25.
10K Business use down to 6K commuting was a £200 difference..

Whichever one I go for (6K or 10K on drive) will still be cheaper than all of the other quotes I have received...
