Just been experimenting with moneysupermarket insurance quotes as a second car as a typical thing to see what someone buying their first classic starter Porsche may expect to buy, no no claims, 40 year old chap, 22 years driving experience, 3 points, living in Bournemouth. 944 Turbo 1986. Agreed value, £8k, £380 per year, £200 excess. So then I tried 924 Turbo out of interest... £8k Value again, £138 per year, £50 excess So then I noticed they had a modified button, I selected every modification, non standard engine, roll cage, wheels, suspension, brakes, body pannels, engine management change, every single box ticked... Still only £145 per year, £50 excess!!! Is it because it is a classic car they do not care about modifications or is it because the person is me (AKA aging fart) and they do not think I am likely to use any additional performance? Oh well... Make hay while the sun shines! |
