Post subject:  Removing Phone Attennae

When I recently bought my S2, it came with onw of those old type motorola phones installed. I have since taken that out but still have the attenae stuck to the hatch window.

Has anyone removed one of thes with out damaging the window or a mark showing on the glass afterwards?

I've read that it removed by heating with a hairdryer and a thin plastic blade of some type.

That should work, they are only glued on.

Just found another thing to try on a merc forum. Soak with wd40 overnight, and use same to clean of any sticky residue. Will try that first.

Two phone areiels succesfully removed from hatch glass. One on the 944 and the other from a Mondeo. No marks left on any glass.

Tools used:

Half a can of WD 40
Sky viewing card as a scraper.
Small scalple with razor type bade.
An old sheet and piece of rag

On the mondeo: I sprayed the wd40 around the areiel, let it soak, sprayed some more, then the aeriel came aweay from the sticky pad after 15 minutes. Removed the stick pad with wd40 and the Sky card.

On the 944: Started on the inside bit first. Spayed around the connector with wd 40 - this part was really solidy stuck - then tried to move it by twisting. Just moved about a mm at a time - repeated this lots of times. Carefully used the scalple to disturb the edge of pad to allow the wd to get undeath. More wd 40 and gentle twisting. Whole thing came off the glass in tact. Same method for outside bit, but didn't use the scalple. Whole job took about an hour. Be careful not to try and prise upwards against the glass - it might break.

The sheet was used to cover the roof paint work - then to sheild the interior from wd 40 spray. Rag used to catch any wd 40 running down the glass.

Could have used my finger nails to remome the goo, but they were freshley varnished last night and I didn't want them chipped.
