Post subject:  Can someone help a new owner please ?

Hi Guys,

I picked up my 08 plate Boxster S Sport 4 weeks ago and have just had a rear tyre blow out.

She's currently on the Continental Sport Contact 3's and whilst the fronts "look ok" i'm concerned the car may have been standing over last winter, run below pressure etc etc so instinct is to replace all 4 rather than just the 2 rears.

I'm looking at either sticking with the Continentals or switching to the Michelin Pilot Sport 2.

Can anyone tell me if a mobile tyre fitter such as etyres would be ok to use or would I still need to take her into Porsche for checking and tracking ?

Sorry for being such a girl - but when the AA rescued me with a space saver the ABS/PSM lights obviously came on and I don't know if they need to be reset at a specialist.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated,

Many thanks,

Carol

Hi Carol, Michelin PS2 all day long. The lights should go out after so many restarts once the tyres are all the same.

Agree with Jim, we have both posted more info on our tyre preferences previously so might be worth having a look back for those too.

Post subject:  All sorted !

Many thanks to Jim and Paul.

I risked the mobile service etyres so had two lovely blokes come and fit a new set of the Michelin Pilot Sports yesterday.

Not an airgun in sight, they took great care of my baby and confirmed the need for an alignment due to uneven wear.

Turns out that one of the tyres had also been previously puncture repaired !

Yeeks ! So glad I decided to get them all replaced.

And what an amazing difference it makes - any doubts I had about my purchase disappeared as the abs and psm lights reset themselves.

Guess I need to have more faith and just treat her like a car to be driven rather than a thoroughbred to be fretted over.
