Hi all.
I'm asking for a mate who's about to join the club and has just got a 996 with odd tyres makes and as they need changing, wants to go the same all round.
What's your opinions on the best tyres?
Wear/grip etc
Currently on 285/30/18 N's Pirelli on the rear and 225/40/18 N's Michelin Pilots on the front.
Heard good things about Falken - but believe they are not Porsche approved.
Your response will be valued and allow him to make his expensive purchase.
Thanks

I did 80,000 miles in my 996.

Michelins were always best on mine, I ruined p zero rosso in under 3000 miles whereas pilot sport lasted 15000 with the same driving, no real change in performance. Fronts used to last me 30000 with either brand.

I believe the pilot supersports are the way forward now but don't think they are N rated yet.

I have Coninental Contact 2's on mine, they are wearing well and are much better than I thought they would be.

I would have had Michellin's but they were on back order for my 11" rears.

Hi :)

I have 996 wheels on my 928...

Falkens 453`s... I highly recommend them... I run 265/35/18 on the back and 225/40/18 on the front...

Brilliant in the dry and good in the wet...

And around half the price of Mich/Pirelli etc....

All the best Brett :)

No point in worrying about N rating on a 996, in my opinion. If it were my car - Falken FK452 or the new 453. They work on a hard-driven GT3 that one of our guys has... Money no object? Pilot Sport or Super sport is the default choice.
