I wouldnt ever fit 18" wheels on a 944 or derivative. Porsche didnt even approve the fitting of 18" wheels on 993s until they were halfway through their production. 17"s are as big as you can safely and reliably fit according to the manufacturer and even then they insist that 944 bushes and mounts are used.

You mean 968 susp bushes, I put 17in cups on my old s2 they were fine ,tramed a bit , otherwise ok

To be completely pedantic it's actually 968 Caster mounts, then reset the geometry to amended figures.

I did mean 968 bushes, yes: and 968 castor mounts as stated above.

hi, for what it's worth, I had 18" cup 2's on my S2 cab when I bought him. The tram lining got really boring and so I switched to 17" cup 2's. much better and with the correct spacers, it looked awsome! Cheers.

Hi,
When I brought my s2 it came with a beautiful set of Antera 17" wheels. The s2 has
a sports chassis and came with 255/40/zr17 on the back and 225/45/zr17 front.
I had never driven a 944 before so I thought that the very heavy steering and the
cars handling was normal for a 944. I was a little naive!.

I am an English guy living just outside Stockholm in Sweden. The summers are long and
hot. When I brought the car at the end of last summer the roads were dry and driving
was fun! BUT....... :( then the weather changed and it started to rain quite a lot!.

Driving my daily total of 90km to work etc all of a sudden became quite a frightening
experience. On top of the very heavy steering, I discovered the car ability to want to
aquaplane, and on top of that the tram lining was terrible.

I was lucky. I managed to buy cheaply a nice set of 16" original cup 1's. I fitted new
"standard" size s2 tyres, 225 on the back and 205 on the front.

WOW! what a difference, it was now like driving a totally different car.
Road handling vastly improved
Steering, no longer heavy, much better
No more aquaplaning.
No more tram lining
Seems to have more acceleration
Petrol consumption seems to be a little better.

In all much, much more fun to drive. OK, bigger wider tyres might look better, but
for me all of the above speaks for itself!. I will now sell these 17" antera wheels and
spend the money elsewhere on the car.

p.s might I add while on the subject of tyres. I brought a set of Nokian WRG2 winter
tyres, but they can be used all year round. These are amazing, in the rain, the snow,
ice and also in the dry. I could not be happier.

All the best, Warren from a very snowy Sweden

Hi Warren

Totally agree with you, I had 18" GT3 wheels on my S2Cab, they looked fantastic. Swopping back to standard wheels totally transformed the car.

DON'T DO IT

just my 2 penneth, Warren summed it up nicely, I'd add that 18" rims will do your suspension longevity no good at all.

Not to mention the wheel bearings! There not cheap or easy to fix either as the hubs are ali'. Mine came with 17s & the bearings are service items.

EFA
And it needs revised geometry as well.
