I am about to sell a set of great components, but before I do I may as well give it one last shot to see if they will fit (I have Rainbow Profi Vanadium Phase Plug Crosslines in 6.5" guise).

Basically, is it possible to put 6.5" speakers into the front of a 944? The tweeters I will not have a problem with (A-Pillars), but as far as I can tell there appears to be no space in the kicks of a 944, and I may need to do some serious door surgery to get them into the doors, only to find the window runners in the way, and have the speakers catching the dash :? .

The only other way I can see myself putting them is if I go 3 way, and put the 6.5s in the rear with some 3" mids up front, but that's something that I do not wish to go to.

6.5 in the rear, not a cat in hells chance in the front unless you can find some deep spacers. Some 6x4s are tight in the front AMHIK

What about getting a set of door cards from a late S2 with the optional speaker housing where the door pocket normally is.

IMO, the speaker positioning with the 10 speaker system is quite poor (AFAIK, the mid sits right next to your hip) (sorry OE lovers but it's simply my view). This would require quite alot of time alignment to dial out the issue, and I would still have a few other side effects).
