Guys
The electric seat adjustment was working fine in my 944 until the snow arrived. Now neither seat will work. I have looked through the manuals I have and no mention is made of the electric seat circuits in my age of car-I can't even find out which fuse they use or if they are relay controlled!

To clarify, my car is a 1985 square dash 944 Lux with the fuseboxes in the passenger footwell.

Any help in tracing or diagnosing the fault greatly appreciated!

A quick look in the Haynes manual, Porsche 944 1983 thru 1989, page 211, diagram 0049-H (bottom right of page), it says 'seat operation'. It looks like Fuse 6, 30 Amp.

Good luck with it.

Ah yes-found that. I wasn't sure if that diagram was for oval dash cars. I assume its referring to fuse 6 in the auxiliary fusebox because that's where all the larger fuses are situated. Unfortunately they are all fine.
Any ideas as to where I should look next? I'm lousy at reading wiring diagrams! Do the seats use a relay?
Many thanks.

Start with the simple things. Is it both seats or just one? If it's both it's likely the fuse. As it's not the fuse I assume it's just the driver one, therefore it's something specific to that seat.

Is it all of the adjustments that don't work? Then try the plug underneath the seat to see if it's loose. It's a big black oblong plug under the seat near the front. It has black cables going in and out of it.

If it's just the front or the back that doesn't go up or down then it could be the relevant switch.

The hard way to find out is to swap the seats over (save time and effort - don't bolt them in) and connect the black plug. If the driver seat works in the passenger side and the passenger side doesn't work in the driver's position then it's a wiring problem.

Just work it through slowly.

See how you get on.
