My Cayenne S has recently started to misfire with blue smoke out of the exhaust on startup. This is intermittent, happening every 4 or 5 days. The misfire/smoke go after about 10-20 seconds of the engine running.

Has anyone else seen this? Any ideas?

Cayennes are not my forte but.... Sounds like a coil is packing up to me. Quite a common problem. The general suggestion is to change all 6/8 rather than bu99ering around finding which one it is.

Hi Jim

Thanks for the reply. Would this explain a blue oily smoke?

I'm no car expert, so any help appreciated!

Cheers

Mark

The smoke could be excess fuel, if you keep running like this the fuel not being burnt in the misfiring cylinders will wash the oil off & destroy that cylinder & piston. The V8 is slightly prone to piston failure & that is big bucks so my advice is to get it sorted pronto!
Also misfires will damage the catalytic converters which will be a big cost on a Cayenne as well.

Hi Jim,

Thanks - it's booked in next week at Sports and Classic (my local independent Porsche specialist) so will limit the mileage until it's looked at properly.

Thanks again!

Mark.
