Hi everyone,
I have a 98 basic 986 and have finally fitted the superb and rare 18" 993 Technology wheels I aquired a month ago.
After a quick test drive we've noticed a rubbing sound from the rear (the fronts are fine). I've looked about for similar posts and theres not much of this nature.
As the rears are 10J ET65 rims (993.362.140.01) I've used 18mm spacers which I calculated and were also informed correct when purchasing!
The tyres are also correct (or at least the smallest) 265-35-18!

The only information I have been able to gather is the possibility of brake hoses rubbing! :? Wheel weights?! and of course alignment - I know these wheels are tight with everything in these arches but was hoping someone else on here had a similar experience and could let me know before I go out and assess the damage (if any)!

Photo doesn't work so fb link below....
Thanks

Hi :)

First ..STOP driving the car !!!

If that rubbing sound is a tyre rubbing, it could blow ! or if its a brake hose you COULD lose all your brakes....

Obviously something is the wrong size....that offset is perfect for a 928 but I seriously doubt its correct for your car....

You NEED to get the car up on a ramp with a beam lifter to raise the back wheels and SEE what rubbing...then cure it...

Oh and by the way you can get smaller 18`s than yours, they are the same size I have on my rear 10`s but you can also get 255, or 245 or 235 or 225 in various profiles...

Hope this helps...

All the best Brett :)

Hi Brett,
Thanks for your input - Anything on that car that sounds abnormal makes me stop driving!

I will ring around before I move it again and report back

Cheers

Brett,
I can confirm as as first thought, these wheels do infact fit all Boxsters (18mm spacers with 986). I set to the next day and it turned out that the rubbing (wobble) was a personal error (blond moment) on the day they were fitted and fortunatly not a major issue....

I'm going to leave it at that and close this topic to save embarassment

Thanks again
